Nasi Lemak Supreme

After I tapau-ed the Curry Laksa Supreme from Annie 1, I decided to do a Nasi Lemak Supreme from Home's Kitchen (not to be confused with the (sadly) closed Home Kitchen).

Let's see what the Nasi Lemak Supreme is all about.

It's a super loaded nasi lemak and that's what it would look like if you dined-in.

Based on the description in the Grabfood app, what you get with this nasi lemak are :
- Curry Chicken
- Butter Milk Chicken
- Luncheon Meat
- Nam Yu Pork
- Fried Pork Patty
- Fried Wanton

It sounded interesting lah and at RM29.80 per serving it better be good. I also ordered their "must try" Kopi.

The beverage is packed in a plastic bag and since I asked for ice, it came in another plastic bag, quite a generous serving of ice. I like!

The mug in my office is quite small, so I had to add ice and kopi in stages and I must say that I enjoyed the coffee very much.

Now for the piece de resistance.

It was packed in this oblong plastic container which I saw recently in a friend's blog.

As I ploughed through this behemoth of a nasi lemak, I felt that it ought to be called Nasi Lemak EXTREME XXXL because even with my super tangki, I was almost defeated.

The chicken curry is Chinese style which is something I hardly eat since I don't normally choose chicken curry when I tapau chap fan. I found this chicken curry to be very pleasing, I liked it a lot.

There were loads of ingredients piled on the nasi lemak. There were chunks of nam yu fried pork (nicely marinated), fried pork patty (a bit on the dry side), crispy fried wanton and two slices of fried luncheon meat.

The luncheon meat was all right and so was the nam yu pork. The fried wanton basically served its purpose as a crunchy component to the meal. The fried pork patty was not outstanding.

As for the nasi lemak, it had a very faint coconut aroma and it was pretty much as good as plain rice.

The (very generous serving of) sambal in all its deep red glossy glory could have done with sweet, salty and tangy elements. It was all spicy hot and flat. A pity.

Digging into the sambal, I found three delicious wantons which were not in the description. I reckon, these were to replace an item which I did not find in my nasi lemak - Butter Milk Chicken.

At the end of my meal, there was still a good portion of sambal left. Usually, you would not find me leaving sambal behind. I often complain there is not enough hah..hah..

I can vouch that this Nasi Lemak Supreme is not for the faint stomach-ed, and if you are a small eater, you cannot handle this by yourself. It easily feeds two or three itsy bitsy eaters.

In terms of volume, this nasi lemak delivers but tastewise, I feel that it falls short, particularly the sambal and the rice itself. This Nasi Lemak Supreme is more of a novelty - take a plain old nasi lemak and jazz it up by adding the not-so-usual accompaniments.

The restaurant can easily keep this item on the menu since they serve regular nasi lemak and also items like curry chicken and butter milk chicken which are  served as set meals. The other stuff like fried luncheon meat and fried wanton can be easily whipped up on short notice.

I paid only RM10.00 for this meal.

Because I have loads of points heh..heh...heh...

By the way, side story - I went up the wrong staircase and ended up at another restaurant. The nice guy told me - oh you can get there using that door in the middle, since we are friends. Paiseh..paiseh.. my bad... (the two "friendly" restaurants are connected by  an adjoining door).

This is Girl this morning.

She opened one eye and peeped at me.

Then she went back to sleep again. I left her in house since she made no effort to go downstairs.

  1. Luncheon meat? I guess it is not halal then. I wonder if I can get any nice ones anywhere else here or not lately. Not going to the kampung, always in the list of places with positive cases. Best avoided, #staysafe #staywell

  2. Wow! Wow! This Nasi Lemak Supreme is so tempting!! I like the variety and ingredients added. I think even a 6 footer like me cannot finish cos my stomach is like small tangki of Kancil car. LOLOL

This is hilarious that you went up the wrong stairs. This reminds me of the KL Hilton and Le Meridien Hotels which are side by side & confusing.

Ah Girl is so pampered and will be with you till eternity. She will never get lost by going astray like my neighbourhood cats which often got lost with owners crying over Facebook. It made me wonder!

  4. Wow! This nasi lemak is like a chap fan with lots of ingredients. You must be paying using grab wallet to get so many points. Haizzzz that means I must use grab wallet if I want points. So far I don't have points because I don't use grab wallet. So nice to use the points and only pay rm10 to enjoy this nice big meal. The curry chicken I will like. I don't care for sambal so whatever sambal is fine with me since I eat only a little for taste. Sometimes I eat all the sambal because don't want to waste it if the sambal is not spicy la. Recently we also ordered a 3 types pork nasi lemak with lots of lards. It is not so much as yours here. So much things to eat in uptown that I want to move there la. So cute the two eateries have adjoining doors. Must be many customers go up the wrong staircase. Girl is so sleepy, she is like bye bye I want to go back to sleep. Where is Belle Belle? Did she go out or stay in to keep Girl company? Lately I have been drinking so much delivery coffee cos they sell in sets, cannot buy food without a drink that I don't need to sleep. Lolx! Stay safe! Love your posts! Cos it always give me new places to try. Thanks! Keep it up!

    1. I went there again today and made sure I went up the right staircase. LOL! Belle Belle was outside. I prefer if drinks were optional instead of being bundled up with the food.

  6. When I looked at your Nasi Lemak Supreme, I thought it was too extreme also for one person...lol! :D That portion is perfect for two small "tangki". I wouldn't have known that the sambal didn't taste right as the colour of it certainly looked right. Of course when you have loads of GrabPoints to the tune of the nasi lemak costing only RM10, then must Grab self pick-up lah...hah..hah! :D P/S: Girl is a smart girl...who wants to get up and go out when can snooze some more on a comfy bed...lol.

  7. Wow! That nasi lemak supreme is super big portion. Hubby and I can share that nasi lemak but we prefer to have good tasty sambal. Hope they will improve on the sambal and rice. Ha ha ha...Girl so cute! "Please, I wanna sleep some more la."

    1. If the sambal can be improved, it would be very good because they were very generous with the serving portion. Usually restaurants are so kedekut with their sambal. I allowed Girl to sleep since she was not interested to go out. But I think she regretted because she was locked up in the house for many hours before I came home.

  8. Just so you know, I cooked your mum's beef curry twice already and my family love it. My kuah turned out to be very pekat (thick). Maybe I overloaded on the onion part, I used 1kg of onion LOL! Thank you and to your mummy too!

  10. Did you manage to finish this NL Supreme in one meal? The rice portion looked a bit smaller than the usual.

    1. I did hah..hah... The rice is comparatively small compared to the total amount of ingredients.
