Mini Mooncakes

Last weekend my brother (the married one) sent over a box of mooncakes. He told me that these mooncakes have a short shelf life.

Then he told me to finish them as soon as possible, not that I needed any encouragement kih..kih..kih...

Oh! Are they cute or what? Eight mini mooncakes, two varieties of each.

I took out three to sample.

The one topped with black sesame seeds is filled with pandan lotus paste. Yum! My favorite!

The one topped with melon seeds is filled with lotus paste and one salted egg yolk. I also very like hee..hee..hee...

Then the one with pumpkin seed topping had pandan lotus paste AND salted egg yolk. I super like!

So I guessed that the fourth flavor (topped with white sesame seeds) must be filled with just lotus paste, no egg yolk.

Correct. Correct. I like this one too. In fact I like all the four varieties of fillings.

The remaining four mini mooncakes, I decided to cut them neatly with a knife.

If I see these mooncakes I will buy a box.

Now you see it.

Now you don't. Don't ask.

  6. As big as a salted egg yolk, must be very small. Short shelf life is good, no preservatives - some are made months and months before the festival and can keep till like forever - so much preservatives! Eat a lot, next time no need to embalm!

  8. Thin pastry very very generous lotus paste filling! Too bad I'm not a fan of any pastries with lotus paste, that's why I never get excited with mooncakes, LOL

  11. Ah, it's that time of the year again. Well, if one has to eat mooncake, I guess it's better to eat one where there's more filling than pastry, right? LOL. P/S: I hope half magically disappeared into your stomach while the other half went to your partner's...hah..hah...sharing is caring! ;)
