I Love Soup

With no dining in during this MCO 3.0, I have been very well behaved. This time I betul-betul MCO - Mouth Control Order.

I have been cooking my meals for lunch and dinner, which means I food prep during the weekends. I keep things simple. After all, weekends are meant for chilling out and not slaving out in the kitchen.

For me that means salads for lunch and soups for dinner.

For example, last week's lunch. All I had to do was fry the burgers and then assemble the ready-washed salad greens and add on some sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and hard boiled eggs.

I used Kewpie Hot & Spicy dressing. And yes, I love mustard and chili sauce on my burger patty. As you can see, I am going low carb.

Soups for dinner is so practical. During the long weekend last week, I made a batch of bone broth.

This is a great base for whatever soups I want.

Meatball and vege soup. I portion this out into smaller containers. Then I add whatever other ingredients later.

This one I added Brazilian spinach which I recently tried and liked a lot.

This one I added egg tofu, Brazilian spinach and cherry tomatoes.

I also use bone broth for my favorite kimchi jigae.

I add fuchuk and coriander to my kimchi jigae. Weird? To the Koreans maybe.

I love coriander! I love my soups! hah..hah..hah...

Belle Belle is very mischievous. Just the other day, she knocked down my stack of styrofoam  boards.

So I had to discipline her.

Back to the cage. No more play time.

She still hangs out on top of this shoe rack. That's where she used to live.

Now she gets to live inside and I hope she is happy.

She is so much healthier now.

My brother sent me this link which cat lovers might appreciate. I certainly did!

  1. I love these clear meatball soup, plain. My missus will add some ingredients to the meatballs to enhance the taste, not something I fancy.

    1. Oh, I am with your missus on the added ingredients! I used to love adding fishball and all those YTF stuff but now I just stick to egg tofu and fuchuk.

  3. Wow! All your food look so tasty! If only I can order daily bentos from you. Sure will be super healthy. I love to eat egg tofu too. Do you still go to office to work everyday? Is it because you are the 30% management?

  4. Thank you for all the photos of Belle. I am sure she loves living indoors else she would have ranaway again when you let her go outside. Thank you again for giving her a 2nd chance. ❤️πŸ’žπŸ’

  5. Wow... so much food stored! Saves a lot of hassle, right? My freezer is very small, just enough for me to keep uncooked meat and of course, ice cream!!

  6. Mouth Control Order!!! What a funny word. Muahahahahaha

I love your soups and broths so much esp the Kimchi Jigae. I think I want to make this Jigae Stew and store inside the fridge to slowly drink as a meal. Very healthy. No wonder the Koreans say that I look like a Korean Opah. Do I?

  8. I've been having lots of self cooked soups as well these days, although mine not as fancy as yours hahaha. Recently I've been watching a ton of Marco Pierre White's recipe clips but when I tried to look for Knorr stockpots in the supermarkets, couldn't find any. I wonder if they are the same thing as those stock cubes?

  9. Haha, glad to see you 'adhering' to the MCO this time! :D I love soups...and I love lots of coriander in it too. I find that my meatballs in soup tend to have a much drier texture than those I eat at pork noodles shops. May I know what you use as marinade for the meatballs?

Belle certainly looks a lot healthier...and happier now that she has a place to call home. P/S: I do appreciate the link you provided for cat lovers...but I think I appreciated the video underneath it more...wuahahahaha! ;D

    1. Perhaps the minced meat that you used is made from lean meat, hence the drier texture? I use light soya sauce, garlic powder (can use fresh minced garlic of course or minced onions), sesame oil, lots of pepper and I add corn flour and egg as a binder.

Belle eats a lot, she seems hungry all the time and of course I limit her intake. She has put on quite a bit of weight since last time. Oh, what video underneath? I must have missed that hah..hah...

    2. Thank you, thank you. Now I know what's wrong with my meatball soup...I just marinated the meatballs and didn't use egg and cornflour to bind. I do that only when I fry my meatballs coz I thought the frying would dry out my meatballs. When I add cornflour to pork slices (for stir-frying with vegetables), they do tend to have this softer, more tender texture to it. I do that coz I needed the cornflour anyway as a slurry to thicken the sauce. I'm so gonna use this tip you had given me when I next make my meatball soup.

    3. You are welcome! Hope that your next batch of meatballs turn out moist.

  10. Weird combo of food but who cares, as long as the eater is happy!
May I know how you use you pork bone stock as soup base? I mean do you add water to the stock as I an see you can get a big pot of soup from that.

    1. No, I don't add water. I use the bone broth as it is. That pot contains approximately 1200ml of bone broth.
