Finally. Lockdown. Today we hit a heart stopping 9,020 cases up from yesterday's 8,290. It looks like the number of infections is going up and up and the government was faced with no other jalan than to impose a full lockdown.
I welcome the lockdown wholeheartedly because like many, I believe that this is the only solution to keep the situation in check. No matter how stringent the SOPs of the MCO 3.0, if nobody bothers to comply, it will not be effective. It is tantamount to no SOPs and no MCO.
So to make sure the recalcitrants among us duduk rumah diam-diam, the only way is to force it upon them via the newly announced lockdown.
I have no issues with staying home, although it will mess up my work schedule (hopefully the relevant statutory bodies will grant extension of time soon) and my fee revenue. But staying alive and well is more important.
Yesterday (prior the the lockdown announcement) I placed several orders on Lazada and Shoppee for cat supplies and other essentials (which I usually get from the mall but I am too scared to go there now). These are normally delivered to my office since that is where I am at most of the time.
Then boom! Lockdown announcement. I had to frantically contact the sellers in order to change delivery address. As I found out, on Lazada, you have to cancel your order as the system do not allow for address change. But that was not a problem on Shoppee. Anyway, I got all that sorted out.
During the lockdown in 2020, I was very active ordering food here, there and everywhere. This is one of them and I fully took advantage of the Hellmann's salad dressing promotion by La Jucieria Superfoods.
Yup, I still have photos from then and this recent lockdown announcement triggered some (delicious) memories. The offer was quite attractive and I collected many bottles of dressing.
My favorites are the Smoky Caesar and Smoky Thousand Island (not in photo). The Roasted Sesame was not to my liking because the sesame oil smell was overpowering. It was the most unpopular (I reckon) because I was given this variant many times as the free bottle.
I read that there were long queues today at the supermarkets and my mum was also caught in the crowd in Kuala Terengganu. It looks like we still haven't learnt from the first lockdown.
Happy lockdown everyone. Wish me luck on my grocery shopping tomorrow.
My missus bought those bottles of Hellmann's salad dressing too. Can't say they swept me off my feet. I still prefer our family's own recipe when it comes to salad dressing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that homemade ones taste better. In fact after making my own mayonnaise, I can't stomach the commercial ones anymore.
DeleteI also read about the news about the cases in Malaysia reaching over 9000, very worrying. Stay safe everyone, nobody is safe until everybody is safe.
ReplyDeleteDuring the lockdown in 2020, I was also very active ordering food delivery online, however, during the recent partial lockdown (Phase 2 HA), I only tried dabao and homecooked food.
You are so right! I hope this lockdown will help to break the chain of infections and that the government will not lift the lockdown too soon. Must wait for a cooling off period first or else we will be back to where we started.
DeleteI cancelled my weekly grocery shopping on Sunday because I believe that there would be long queues and where there are queues there are crowds and where crowds are, the risks are higher so it is not worth going grocery shopping before the full lock down. Hope you managed to go to some places with no queues for your grocery shopping. Please do write about it. Stay safe! Wear double masks!
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly today at Aeon there was no mad crowd. They opened early and I managed to have a very peaceful shopping experience. Phew!
DeleteGirl looks so calm asking for you to share your food with her. Good that she doesn't jump onto your dining table.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that she has never jumped on the dining table.
DeleteDuring MCO1.0, we were hard-working making salad. Now rarely make, so hardly buy dressing. I have seen Hellmann's brand but never buy the dressing.
ReplyDeleteSoon, 10k cases are possible. Full lockdown is the best solution right now. Everyone on lockdown (include Sabah), but my state government degil-degil insists on MCO with SOP. No lockdown. Expect Sarawak to lead again eith Gawai next Tuesday and the Dayak gone back to long houses. Sigh!!
I agree with you regarding the lockdown. Oh dear, I worry for you guys in Sarawak!
DeleteI was waiting for the MCO1 lockdown and now it finally comes... it should be much sooner, in fact before Raya... sigh... Anyway, hope this FMCO will give some positive signs. No problem for me too staying at home.. .hahaha.. been staying home since last year. Yes, I saw the crowded rush for groceries.. Oh no, not another shopping cluster I hope!
ReplyDeleteLet's all stay home and stay safe and this lockdown is an opportunity for me to experience what it is like to be retired. LOL!
DeleteI am glad you stay positive & upbeat. Your cats look healthy with nice fur.
ReplyDeleteI don't bother to compete with the shopping crowd. Bought all groceries including fresh food online.
If a customer/staff get a false positive test, contact tracing will get more people to get tested. The more they test, the more cases they will find. Since Selangor has the highest testing rate, they also have the highest number of cases.
I have been doing some research on pcr testing & how to keep the immune system healthy to fight germs.
It seems you're eating the right food, kimchi contains probiotics to strengthen your immune system. Maybe I should eat more kimchi, heeheehee.

Take care & be brave.
Thank you, Eli! I shall check out those links you gave me :)
DeleteI am getting confused on seeing the rising number of Covid cases daily. How, why and where did it happen precisely? The government doesn't show the full demographics.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time hearing this brand Hellmann's. I promised my wife that I would start making different Thai Kerabu Salad everyday since I have been whining for my mum's cooking.
The sharp rise is partly contributed by active testing and discovery of new/asymptomatic cases. Ah! I want to see your kerabu salad. Please blog about it. LOL!
Deleteonly ah Girl request for food? i thought Belle is the one who likes to sapu food....but she is not in sight.
ReplyDeleteBelle Belle likes to sapu Ah Girl's food. Somehow when I am eating, she is always outside.
DeleteI'm so angry to see those panic buying photos that people shared on social medias as this is not the 1st lock down we experienced and those idiXXs still can't learn the lesson!
ReplyDeleteSorry for being rude here, just can't hold my anger >_<
I hear you and I feel you! I also felt annoyed lah as like you said, we have gone through this before and there were no food shortages (except for certain items due to those idiXXs hoarding them).
DeleteHellman's must be on an aggressive advertising promotion to give out their bottles of salad dressing for free. Unfortunately, after trying one, I still prefer Kewpie's.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm happy to see the full lockdown too (which I thought should have come earlier) as there's no way the figures will go down with people moving around freely. Unfortunately, there are still gila shoppers around (never learned from the first lockdown not to hoard food) though I didn't experience seeing it myself but when I went out today to buy my vegetables for the week, all the eggs & bread habis sapu...which means there were hoarders! >_< If everyone just buys their usual amount, there won't be any situations of shortage like that.
Many people are still insecure about food supply even though from past experience there was no short supply except for items which these gila shoppers hoarded. This time around, we don't see people hording toilet paper LOL!
