Covid-19 MCO : Day #4 (Soups Up!)

It is day 4 and this morning I suggested to my partner that why not we do our grocery shopping today instead of Sunday (tomorrow). He agreed and off we went.

At the basement car park, we discovered that the entrance to Aeon was closed and that we could only enter at the ground level. So we walked out of the car park into 1 Utama. We were early as we anticipated a crowd.

Oh dear. It looks like the grocery shopping madness has resumed. So many people were crowding outside the supermarket. When the shutters opened, everyone scrambled for the entrance.

We were all doing what we were not supposed to do - congregating in a crowd in close proximity to each other. Haiz.... there was only one entrance, no supervision. I found out that we had to have our temperature taken and hand sanitizer was provided for us to disinfect our hands.

Beep! I was OK and so was my partner. Phew. The whole thing was so disorganized. It was only upon exit that we saw that a line was formed outside with shoppers queuing at a safe distance from one another.

When we were inside, I told my partner that we should be quick, grab what we want and then get the hell out of there. We did just that, as we got to the cashier before a long line formed.

Back home (there will be no more grocery run after this!) I sorted out my things. I bought a loaf of bread and to preserve the freshness, I packed 2 slices each into ziplock bags for freezing.

After that I strained the bone broth that I made yesterday and stored the broth in 4 mason jars for freezing.

Lunch today was yesterday's leftover soup. Yup, date nite soup. I just added some leftover kale from yesterday's salad.

Now cat's activities. My cat decided that she wanted to chill out under the coffee table.

Then she went to sit at a corner where my stand lamp is.

After that she attacked my feet.

You can see that I have a lot of fur on my pants.

For tonight's dinner, my partner's meat patties. Cooked by me, who else.

My portion with same old leftover soup (no rice). Must not waste.

Partner's portion.

Tomorrow what to cook, eh? We shall see.

  1. I went to the TTDI wet market and the queue for pork meat was like 1 km long. Tonight I will have Bak Kut Teh dinner. Hip Hip Hooray!!!

I think you should come over to the Hero Market here. Easy to park and easy to shop. Just be prepared to get stopped by police road blocks.

Your left over soup looks delicious and sweet. I am also saving leftovers daily to be recycled for next meals.

    1. I hope that my food will last until the RMO is over because trauma lah having to face the crowd. Now I read that only one person is allowed to go out do the the grocery shopping. I have to send my lahling lah like that.

  2. We saw photos of one supermarket here - there was a rampage, so many people. The Council chief took action immediately and the admin made sure everyone stood in line two metres from one another. There is another supermarket near my house - the photos showed tape markings on the floor - everyone must stand following those for social distancing and they would take the temperature of everyone going in too. Now, that's much better!!!

I must say your pussy has a very nice tail!

  3. I've not had the need to do a second grocery run yet. Really not looking forward to it...and to the massive crowd. Did want to buy pork today but found the queue at the shop to be exceptionally long...and had to quickly abandon the idea. >_< When you said she 'attacked' your feet, I hope you meant she was playing with your feet...and not scratching it! :D I don't dare play with Cookie like that for fear he would scratch when in a playful frenzy.

    1. She was playing with my feet but it felt more like an attack as she goes into a kicking and biting frenzy! I know she meant no harm, just playing but she has no idea it hurts. So I try to be careful as I have many scratch marks on my hand. Haiz...

  4. Drooling at the meat patties, like to eat them with white porridge. No problem for me to stay home bounded too (though i do not have such a cute cat to play with), there are the houseworks (laundry etc) and internet (bloghopping and youtube).

I saw long queues at the supermarkets that day due to panic buying and i gave up! Tsk tsk!

  5. Love your soup! Full of ingredients in your soup which I like. I have not been to any malls since the mco started. I think they should control the amount of people to enter the supermarket. Your cat is right at home with you, so nice of you to give her a beautiful and warm home.

  6. Tell me what you are going to cook? I run out of idea!! Lol.

So far, we avoided those big supermarkets/hypermarkets. We went to the smaller supermarkets here so not so crowded.

  10. May I know where you get your mason jars? Accident happened when I stored my stock in recycled jars and kept in fridge. When I open the freezer the next day, a few of them cracked ~>_<~

    1. Those jars are actually recycled from pasta sauce bottles. I think you may have filled your jars too full. Next time, you must leave some space between the cover and the top of the stock, about 1/4 because the liquid expands when frozen.

    2. Yes, i filled the jar almost to the brim! Thanks for the tip, but I only left 1 or 2 glass jars :(
