I Love My Cat

You know, in the past I never really gave cats much of a thought. The only time I take issue with them is when they poop in my garden. That annoyed me to no end.

Then this one came into my life. She is a delight. So affectionate and so charming. Her meows melt my heart. Sigh....

I used to be under the impression that cats are very cold, aloof and selfish. Well, to a certain extent they are solitary  creatures (pretty much like me) and my perception on cats changed when I met my Girl.

I know that there are people out there who have a disdain for cats. I respect their opinion and would not launch into an argument on why cats are better than dogs. But please. Even if you don't like cats, I do not see the need to say unkind things about them.

I had a conversation with someone whom I see on a professional basis. "Of all things, why cat?" he asked incredulously when I mentioned my cat. Why not? Then he proceeded to regale me with stories of how he buried no less that 15 cats that his bull terrier (since deceased, bless thee o doggie) killed. And he told me he felt "no remorse whatsoever".

Seriously. What did the cats do to you, man? I think it is rather uncalled for to bring up such a subject when you know the person you are talking to owns and loves a cat. I hope that when he kicks the bucket, he is sent to a place where he is confronted with 15 giant cats (Father forgive my vindictive heart. Amen).

Terkejut badak. Mami ni, tak tahan tengok orang senang. Asyik nak snap gambo jer.....

Now back to my cat. I have since allowed her to come into my house. Now she is better behaved. I think the first time was chaotic because she was exploring a new environment. Yes, she still scratches the sofa and she still tries to eat the rug.

I notice that when I leave the room, after a short while, she starts meowing. It sounds more like yowling. Then she comes looking for me.

If I am in the kitchen, she parks herself at the kitchen door. If I am in the dining, she sits at the doorway.

And falls asleep there.

And if I go upstairs, she sits at the foot of the stairs and start calling out to me.

Caaak!!!
If I don't respond fast enough, she will be outside my bedroom door. Gosh, I thought cats don't do that.

Sometimes she makes me laugh at her antics.

Li

Like her attempt at pole dancing.

hah...hah...hah....

She has taken over my favorite seat in the house.

So when I saw this cartoon (which only cat owners will understand), I really identified with it.

Sometimes I don't care, I just squeeze myself into my former space.

hee...hee...

This is her parking herself outside my study room. I had to chase her off when she started to bite the internet cable. Haiz...

I am glad this kitty cat came into my life. Mummy sayang ..........

  1. I love how you love your cats. Did you get her a nice litter box? That man I hope in his next life, he becomes a cat over and over again endlessly after being killed by dogs. These people have no heart. Back to loving cats. She clearly loves you and want to be closed to you, all the time. I am so touched!

    1. Oh! hah..hah... you are fiercer than me! Some people are so tactless :( I find it endearing that she follows me around but it can be troublesome sometimes.

  2. I love cats. They are quite adorable though they have their own character; sometimes with that arrogant look (hahaha).

    1. Yes, they have their moods. Sometimes they prefer to be left alone.

  3. I'm so glad to see your loving relationship with your furry companion. I see you've gotten over the phobia of her laying on your sofa (without a spread) too...you just can't stop them. How come your cat is so well behaved? Teach me, teach me. She'll follow you to the rooms but not go in...sits and waits for you at the door? Mine will jump on the bed without me even inviting! ;) The fact that she gets so easily attached to you tells me 100% that this was once someone's cat. If she was a street cat, she'd be fearful of getting close. She has obviously grown very attached to you...needy even like my cat who follows me everywhere too. Can be a little annoying at times especially when he jumps onto the table when I'm at the computer. Sometimes he would even sit on my keyboard...haiz. P/S: I've yet to hear of kept pet dogs killing cats...what kind of dog owner is he? >_<

    1. I replied your comment yesterday evening but the internet service was disrupted and I can't remember what I wrote hah..hah... Thanks for your kind words, yes I am having a loving relationship with my cat. She did come into my bedroom twice (I don't encourage it hah..hah...) but made no attempt to jump on the bed. Oh yes, she did jump on my dressing table though. Perhaps thanks to her previous owner, I have me a very warm and loving cat. Since Cookie also follows you around, this is normal behavior then. True, can be so annoying at times. I can't even go to the toilet in peace hah..hah... Oh ya, that guy, I was really appalled!

  7. even the photos of her are so comel that i can imagine she'd melt my heart too in real life. if i were staying in a house with enough space both indoors and outdoors, i'd love to have a couple of dogs AND a couple of cats. it'd be a happy home, i think! and i think we can be thankful to nature for giving us both cats and dogs, since these creatures bring so many people comfort and companionship :)

    1. Auuww...so nice of you to say that :) I have seen videos of people who own cats and dogs or more than one cat. It seems ideal but trust me, with even one cat, it does take up a lot of time and energy!

  8. She is pretty. I think she adores you and do not want you out of sight. She has you and a good home. I used to have a pet cat and a pet dog and they are best of friends eating from the same bowl.

  9. Cats!!! When I came home from Miri after a few days day, my cars were covered with paw marks, a lot of fur and urine and claw marks. Obviously they had a ball of a time while i was away, darn stray cats!

  10. So glad that you are having so much fun with your girl. I had mine for 19 years and 7 months, even the vet was impressed! After we had her cremated, he even made a donation to a vet university in her name. We have her ashes in our family room which is saying a lot as I would not allow my mother-in-law's ashes in the house before she was placed in the columbria. ( Forgive me Father for I have sinned...)

    1. Hi Chris! 19 years + is quite a feat. I hope my Girl is blessed with long life too. Your vet is so sweet. Oh, as for the ashes, I would have my reservations on human ashes too (I read and watch too many horror movies). I am sure our Lord is understanding in that respect!

  11. I just noticed that your cat has been ear tipped! Meaning her previous owner has spayed her already so she won't be giving you any grandchildren.

  12. Now you have come onboard the Kitty Clubs where you would enjoy hours of fun with the companionship of your furry friend. I have been toying in my head about my old age years just in case I outlived my wife. Should I keep a dog or cat? I think a cat would be a better choice as it is not so irritating with loud barks & the need to go for long walks. The cat is more independent and snobbish.

    Meoooowww!! (Approval)

    1. Sorry for this late reply! Yes, I love the Kitty Club! My suggestion would be a cat because they are much easier to look after. Besides, do you notice that cats are not smelly like dogs? hee..hee...
