Haiz....my cat.... I love her to bits. Yah, I know. I used to hate cats. Any cat that dared trespass into my garden would be chased away.
But this one stole my heart.
I gave her a box with a pillow and all.
But she preferred this smaller one. I reckon because it is cozy and has a roof.
Every time I want to get into the house, she'll be waiting to dash in. I always prevent her from doing that. I like the idea of having her in the house. But the reality is very different.
She will look up at me with those big green eyes.
With a meow or two to boot. It melts my heart. But nope! Cannot come inside.
Until one day when she made a dash for it. So I let her be.
Gah! Look at her.
Then she did this.
Arrghhh!!!
Then she took to the sofa.
Like it's hers.
So comfy like that.
I admit, she looked adorable.
She did not want to leave.
She wanted to stay all day.
Then she got bored and the rug got her attention.

She was all cozy in the house having a whale of a time.
I don't know how you guys do it (cats lovers), keeping your cat in the house. It drove me nuts!
Merajuk. Kena kicked out of the house. |
So she was back outside looking very benign when she is asleep.
I love you girl but you have to stay outside. Mummy's heart is breaking but mummy can't take it anymore.
Your girl looks the most adorable in the first photo. I watched the two videos, cannot lah, like that, your girl. No wonder you say your heart is breaking cos it is destroying your furniture. I have kept dogs as pets before and they do the same thing too, especially when they are teething.
ReplyDeleteActually my heart was breaking because I had to shoo her outside. I felt sad LOL! She looked so pitiful when I carried her outside. Haiz...
DeleteI hated cats and I still do! Yours look kind of skinny - I may want to pat those fat, fluffy ones. LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteShe may have lost a bit of weight. Not too long ago she almost got stuck trying to get into my gate LOL!
DeleteHaha. Adorable and cheeky fella. Good to get her stay outside otherwise you will have headache from the nuisance she caused.
ReplyDeleteI love her and wish that I could keep her inside. She looked so sad when I carried her outside after all the "fun" she had.
DeleteIf it drove you nuts, you need to think hard & long if you really want to keep a cat. She's waiting to run in coz she wants to make it her home. Now that she has been allowed in, she will want to each time you're at the door. Stopping her will be a real task (and you'll surely be going in & out often, so think of the 'work' that awaits you (I can't even keep my neighbour's cat from running into my house, they're super quick!). Scratching is second nature to cats, so expect her to scratch your sofa & rug...and they'll always be on the sofa as they like to knead & sleep on something soft. Next, she'll be jumping on your table, counter tops & cupboards.
ReplyDeleteSince she's female, you won't have to deal with her getting into fights like males do...but if she stays outside, she'll get pregnant at least 3 times a year (not sure if you plan to neuter her). If not, she'll give birth at your place or bring her kittens there. What are you going to do then? And she'll need vet visits and grooming too. There are a lot of responsibilities for owning a pet. Have I scared you yet? But they'll be a loving companion for life like no other.
I am very scared but I shall take it a step at a time. I love her and I am thinking of maybe keeping her as an outdoor cat with short visits inside the house. My partner suggested that we take her to the vet for a checkup and get her some shots if needed. And yes, getting her spayed too. I found a pet grooming shop near my office and I can send my girl in for a bath! I found an old rug in the store room and I will give it to her to scratch to her hearts content. Thanks for your sharing. I wonder how you cope with Cookie jumping all over your house!
DeletePregnant 3 times a year!!!
DeleteMuahahahaha wakakaka
I wanna die laffing....
If you give her an old rug without putting away your other rug, she might still choose the other rug. After a while, you'll realise that there's no such thing as reasoning with a cat...she'll do whatever she wants. If you want to keep a cat, you have to deal with them scratching your furniture & jumping all over the place. You can buy her a scratching pole but that doesn't mean she'll choose the scratching pole over your furniture. Since you have a fabric sofa, eventually there'll be holes in them. Only way around that is to get a spread and cover it (like I do with my cushion seats, dining table & bed...yeah, soon she'll be jumping on your bed too). Also, once she has a taste of the indoors, she will always want to come in. If you leave her outside most of the time, she'll come home dusty & dirty (and then jumping on your sofa & later your bed too) and you may get OCD about her cleanliness. And if you leave her outside at night, there's also the increased chances of her running around the neighbourhood and get knocked down by a car when it's dark. Many things to consider. When I took in Cookie, I did regret it later just because I didn't realise the 'mountain' of responsibilities that came along with owning a pet. But by then, it was too late as he had captured my heart (I couldn't bring myself to discard him + I knew who wouldn't survive on his own...and it'd be cruel too to make him fend for himself). You're in the same dilemma. Know what's in store for you and once you take her in, it's for life (or like what TM said, once fed, forever yours) but know too that you'll have many years of enjoyment and love with her as well. Good luck! ;)
DeleteThis morning she came in and made herself very comfortable on the sofa again! And I can't get angry with her as she is so charming, purring away so loudly hah..hah... Well, you sure adapted well to Cookie's antics and perhaps over time, I might slowly change my mindset and accept having kitty in my home. We'll see!
DeleteShe is cute and she knows it! Lol! It is best to keep her outside or else your furniture and rug all koyak! My friend's furniture all have scratches on them!
ReplyDeleteShe knows how to charm me and even my partner is quite taken by her! Smart girl :)
Deleteawwww, curiosity seems to be the main characteristic of this cat! while adorableness is its physical characteristic. it's scary when a pet or person steals our heart, because that means they can easily break it too!
ReplyDeleteYou are spot on about the heart break part! I had a dog when I was a teenager and she was knocked down by a car. I cried my eyes out and vowed never to have a pet! Looked what happened now? I hope, touch wood, I won't get my heart broken so soon!
DeleteOh PH, you are so patient and kind hearted... I cannot la... cos I am not a cat lover.. LOL... If scratch my furniture like that, I would have chased her out using a cane! hahahaa... Sorry, cat lovers!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I fell in love with this cat, that's why I am so patient with her.
DeleteShe looks so playful and happy being in your house. Your partner is on the right track - just bring her to the vet, have a checkup then grooming, trim her nails and she is ready to be an indoor cat. Just get her a scratch pole or bench and let her scratch to her heart's content. She looks so at home on your sofa. ❤️
ReplyDeleteShe loves the sofa and I can understand why. Yes, it looks like she is super happy in the house :)
DeleteMy sister went to England again for the 3rd time in 2019 alone. So she banked in a big sum of money for me to feed her 2 cats twice a day. I wish I could share videos of how luxury life these 2 pussy cats enjoy. Good karma cats.
ReplyDeleteI will never want to keep pets esp cats. Nice to look at, once fed it's forever yours!!!
TM, sometimes the intention is not to keep pets but just to help those street stray cats who are hungry and neuter/spay them so that their health will be better. But once you have helped them, do you have the heart to throw them back on the streets? And no one else want to adopt them so instead of sending them away to shelters, what other options do you have apart from keeping them at home? If you have not seen any stray cats asking for your help, then you have not opened your heart and eyes to them yet because they are everywhere and in M'sia, most people cannot see them. I read a true account of an American lady who saw a cat with a gaping hot water scald wound wandering in TTDI market where there are many people walking around but no one can see the cat except her. So she went home and got a cat carrier and returned to TTDI market to scoop up the cat and bring him to the vet. Now that he is all healthy, she has no other choice then to keep him with her inside her condo. Her one question is why can't so many people in TTDI market see her? Well, what can I say, the locals are heartless? Human needs are much more higher than stray cats which are not to be seen. Oh dear, I guess I am just affected by this cruel world to the animals.
DeleteTM : Some pets have a very good life! Those kitties must have done good deeds in previous life. I understand your sentiments, I was like that too until I fell in love with this cat!
DeleteMun : Many people would turn a blind eye on strays, even those that need help. Basically because of the time/money investment involved. Not many can take on the responsibilities. After I took in this cat, another two came over to my house! I really can't keep all of them. I hope that there is an animal rescue group out there that can keep a lookout for there poor creatures.
DeleteI understand your predicament. My sibling took in a family of strays and more joined until to-date he has send all 10 of them for neuter/spay and all of them are living with him now. Some in his house and some in his porch.
DeleteOh and female cats in heat will attract male cats to the house. Once she is spayed then male cats won't be visiting you. Az vet in Hicom area charges RM150 for spay procedures. I think the price is considered cheaper than other vets but I am not sure. Do check out other vets as well if you want to shop around and are considering doing the procedure for her.
DeleteThanks, Mun for the information. Your brother is so kind to take in 10 cats!
DeleteI find this post most interesting and am waiting to see what final decision you will make - no pressure! :) Have you given her a name yet?
ReplyDeleteI shall take this in slowly slowly, like you said, no pressure. I call her Girl and this name stuck :)
