Soup And Skin

Yesterday I had to attend a webinar. And as usual webinars never end on time.

So by the time I was done, it was past 2:00pm when I went out for lunch.

What to eat that is carnivore/carnivore-keto compliant? That's when I decided to go to Gu On, The Starling for a meaty meal.

Since it was past lunch time, it was quiet with only three other tables occupied. So I could sit anywhere I liked. Let's see what I had.

I ordered the Original Pork Bone Soup and Marinated Pork Skin. Three side dishes were served - kimchi, lotus root and eryngii mushroom kimchi. The drink was complimentary (maybe because I have achieved regular customer status hah..hah...)

Ahh.... look at that! This soup is fantastic!

I added the tiny shrimps for an extra salty kick.

And totally ignored the chili paste.

Nyums!

Love the tender pieces of pork.

And now for another dose of collagen. Marinated pork skin, nicely charred and smokey.

This is the second time I am eating these skins (haven't posted the first experience yet). If you are averse to fats, you might find this a bit cloying (due to the fats under the skin).

But me? I love it! The skins were served with a sweet sauce and a savory powder-like seasoning which I did not take.

That was a very satisfying meal.

Super good!

  3. Dear, enjoy your upcoming weekends. I am planning to eat Itacho sushi this Sunday off day for my lunch, will be first time trying yellowtail premium sashimi (other than salmon sashimi), hope it will be a pleasant experience for me. I sm glad the cat photos made you happy and brought a smile to you. Me too. Looking at cats made my day.

  4. Humans are social creatures, and it’s wired into our biological processes to understand the emotions of those around us. The phenomenon where people are strongly influenced by the moods of other people is known as ‘emotional contagion’. And it’s an actual thing. According to a 1993 paper, people can unconsciously feel the emotions of those around them. So if you want to be well liked, you need to send out positive vibes, and you know, having a good sense of humour also helps along with the occasional smile.

Just sharing PH, hope it helps in anyway in your daily life.

  5. Thanks for introducing this marinated pork skin. Didn't notice it in the menu. I definitely wouldn't dare to it.
I like the tender pork in the soup. Did you drink all the soup to the last drop?
