Tap Room, Bamboo Hills

When I read Kris of Eat What, Eat Where's experience at Tap Room, I told myself that I must find my way there.

So I texted my brother with a link to the post and asked him if the location is easy to get to. This was his reply one minute later "22 minutes from DJ. We can go, let me know when" woohoo!

So there we were last Saturday.

We hardly venture out of PJ so this was like an adventure to us. Tap Room @ Bamboo Hills felt like it was so far away hah...hah...hah...

Traffic was heavy but fast moving and when we got there, my brother dropped me and mum at the entrance before he went to park.

I made reservations a few days before and after my brother joined us at the table, we placed our orders after taking some time to peruse the menu.

Quite honestly, I was not in the best frame of mind that day. My office internet connection was disrupted since Friday and you know how it is these days. When your internet connection is cut off, everything comes to a standstill.

I had to march myself to Telekom immediately to make a complaint (because I could not get through their helpline and their app chat is useless).

So with this issue sitting in my head (plus all the work that stalled due to this predicament), I found the menu at Tap Room overwhelming. So many items on the menu and I couldn't think straight LOL!

So we settled on the following :

Kale Regale because mum wanted a salad. I didn't come to Tap Room to eat vegetables but it was the only salad on the menu.

Described as "A luscious salad of crunchy kale from Cameron Highlands, chicken patty, avocado, poached egg, parmesan cheese, cherry tomato and caesar dressing".

I requested for the Parmesan Cheese to be omitted since mum does not like cheese. This resulted in the Caeser dressing (which contains Parmesan Cheese) to be omitted as well. I should have thought of that.

This was the most unsuccessful dish on our table. Imagine eating raw un-dressed kale. The chicken patty were dryish. I tried to help mum finish the kale but most of it went uneaten.

My brother made a very good choice from the pasta section with the Creamy Mushroom.

The pasta was delicious. I sampled a little bit since I was trying to avoid too much carbs.

My choice predictably was the Meaty Platter from the Carnivore Platter section. What was on the platter - Grilled grass fed striploin, beef rendang beef short ribs & lamb cutlets served with padron peppers, kale & arugula salad, coleslaw, mashed potato, creamy fiery hulk sauce & creamy mushroom sauce.

I'm afraid the execution of the meats (perhaps with the exception of the rendang short ribs) were not to my expectations - the striploin as well as the lamb cutlets were tough. The mashed potatoes and coleslaw were nice but the green salad (kale again ugh!) needed more dressing.

You see, even my photography was out of sorts. But hopefully I will be in a better mood on a future visit.

Ah, forgot to mention our beverages. My brother picked a hot Latte while mum and I opted for Iced Latte. Coffee is a must for us!

Then I remembered, eh! We must try the Paperkite beer!

And so it was a Pale Ale for each of us. Coffee and beer is not the best combo LOL! I enjoyed the cold beer.

We did not have desserts because we were so stuffed, next time.

On our way out, I noticed Pizza Duo and that is bookmarked for our next visit.

While waiting for my brother to get the car, I took some more photos.

I love the greenery.

There were many bamboo trees all around, after all, this is Bamboo Hills.

Sorry the pretty flowers were out of focus.

From the number of customers that day, I can see that Tap Room is a popular eatery.

But I doubt if I will come here with my partner for our Friday datenites because it's a bit out of the way for after office hours. We prefer to go somewhere nearby.

There will be a revisit for sure and next time hopefully I would be able to make better selections for our meal. My brother and I already have something in mind.

This.

Sweet dreams are made of these ...... hee..hee..hee...

I love the red cup and saucer set! The steak looks succulent! I don't drink alcohol, but I smiled when you said that coffee and beer are not a good combo! :)
The meaty platter and your description is making me drool! LOL! It looks and sounds amazing. And, of course, you know how much I love lamb! Baaaa. LOL!
Such a great post, dear friend, thank you so much for sharing!

  2. Is this place the rage now? Our guests took us there for dinner just a few weeks ago. Also ordered the meaty platter which my weak teeth cannot handle so I just nibble on one small piece of beef and one small piece of lamb which I find tough. I wanted to order the tiger prawn from sungai near but was reluctant to peel the prawns so didn't order. Just let the hosts did the ordering. Bill was rm430 shared by 3 parties including us.

    1. I seems like a very happening place, even better in the evenings I guess. Ah, you have been there and I agree the meat was a bit tough. I also saw the tiger prawn dish but the price deterred me. Besides I am not much of a prawn fan. Our bill also came to RM400++

  4. I can understand how you felt when internet connection was unstable or totally cut off these days, it was arghh, gosh, damn it!!! And it did not help when the general customer service call line had got so many steps, press 1, 2, .....10 and with the high volume of calls, sometimes what you get when you are almost there is, it saying thank you for calling, goodbye!!! And they cut you off, lol !

    1. Yes, yes, I hate those automated responses! A lot of times we have to wait so long to listen to the instructions and by the end we forgot which one to press and then start all over. Haiz!

    2. I giggled at your reply.

  5. Why did the outage happen? Was it because the provider was so "money face" and they cut it off just because bills were not paid? I hope that was not the case.

  6. I like all your photos of the surrounding scenery and the interior of the restaurant though the food choices that day were kind of disappointing as per your description. Loving all the million dollars greenery and the beautiful flowers. Same as Linda, I don't drink alcohol and I laughed when you said coffee and beer was not a good combo. So you were half awake and half drunk that day? Lol!

    1. The scenery is very nice, lots of greenery but I did not have much chance to take pictures. Also it was a very hot day. Next time if I am there, I will get only beer LOL!

  8. Dear PH, randomly suddenly I thought of our friend TM, I like think that he is entertaining the angels in heaven saying, "Ehh, heaven very boring leh, can tell me some jokes?"
Also, my question of the day, " What are your favourite alphabets from A to Z?" My answer is, I don't like those where the Upper case and lower case look almost the same cos it is not so easy to write and to differentiate them, for example Z, z, M, m, S, s, C, c, and so on. I like A, a, D, d, E, e, F, f, G, g, H, h, J, j, L, l, Q, q, haha.

    1. I like to think that TM is in a good place and maybe he met TuTu because I think of her being in heaven entertaining the residents there! May TM RIP. I miss him and his jokes.

Hmmm... I never though about having a favorite alphabet. I don't have one hah...hah... Yes, when creating passwords and then writing them somewhere, those similar looking upper and lower case ones, I have to write lower case smaller to denote lower case.

  9. Hugs PH. RIP TM, he is free from all the binds now, follow the light and we may meet again one day. I miss him too, he is such a cheeky boy.

You are right about setting the passwords.

  10. Oh dear, sorry to hear you had such an underwhelming meal here. You didn't try any of my tried and tested dishes? Hehe! I think you forgot about not eating steaks at a non-specialist steakhouse...lol! For that reason, it's not something I'd order here (so I'm not so sure about the tomahawk either). I can safely recommend the pizzas from Pizza Duo though. Hope your next meal here is a much better experience.
