When I read Kris of Eat What, Eat Where's experience at Tap Room, I told myself that I must find my way there.
So I texted my brother with a link to the post and asked him if the location is easy to get to. This was his reply one minute later "22 minutes from DJ. We can go, let me know when" woohoo!
So there we were last Saturday.
We hardly venture out of PJ so this was like an adventure to us. Tap Room @ Bamboo Hills felt like it was so far away hah...hah...hah...
Traffic was heavy but fast moving and when we got there, my brother dropped me and mum at the entrance before he went to park.
I made reservations a few days before and after my brother joined us at the table, we placed our orders after taking some time to peruse the menu.
Quite honestly, I was not in the best frame of mind that day. My office internet connection was disrupted since Friday and you know how it is these days. When your internet connection is cut off, everything comes to a standstill.
I had to march myself to Telekom immediately to make a complaint (because I could not get through their helpline and their app chat is useless).
So with this issue sitting in my head (plus all the work that stalled due to this predicament), I found the menu at Tap Room overwhelming. So many items on the menu and I couldn't think straight LOL!
So we settled on the following :
Kale Regale because mum wanted a salad. I didn't come to Tap Room to eat vegetables but it was the only salad on the menu.
Described as "A luscious salad of crunchy kale from Cameron Highlands, chicken patty, avocado, poached egg, parmesan cheese, cherry tomato and caesar dressing".
I requested for the Parmesan Cheese to be omitted since mum does not like cheese. This resulted in the Caeser dressing (which contains Parmesan Cheese) to be omitted as well. I should have thought of that.
This was the most unsuccessful dish on our table. Imagine eating raw un-dressed kale. The chicken patty were dryish. I tried to help mum finish the kale but most of it went uneaten.
My brother made a very good choice from the pasta section with the Creamy Mushroom.
My choice predictably was the Meaty Platter from the Carnivore Platter section. What was on the platter - Grilled grass fed striploin, beef rendang beef short ribs & lamb cutlets served with padron peppers, kale & arugula salad, coleslaw, mashed potato, creamy fiery hulk sauce & creamy mushroom sauce.
I'm afraid the execution of the meats (perhaps with the exception of the rendang short ribs) were not to my expectations - the striploin as well as the lamb cutlets were tough. The mashed potatoes and coleslaw were nice but the green salad (kale again ugh!) needed more dressing.
You see, even my photography was out of sorts. But hopefully I will be in a better mood on a future visit.
Ah, forgot to mention our beverages. My brother picked a hot Latte while mum and I opted for Iced Latte. Coffee is a must for us!
And so it was a Pale Ale for each of us. Coffee and beer is not the best combo LOL! I enjoyed the cold beer.
We did not have desserts because we were so stuffed, next time.
But I doubt if I will come here with my partner for our Friday datenites because it's a bit out of the way for after office hours. We prefer to go somewhere nearby.
There will be a revisit for sure and next time hopefully I would be able to make better selections for our meal. My brother and I already have something in mind.
This.
Oh my goodness, dear friend PH, so much to see here! I love all your photos! I really like the wooden tables, The presentations are very artistic and beautiful! Your pics of the flowers and trees are stunning!
ReplyDeleteI love the red cup and saucer set! The steak looks succulent! I don't drink alcohol, but I smiled when you said that coffee and beer are not a good combo! :)
The meaty platter and your description is making me drool! LOL! It looks and sounds amazing. And, of course, you know how much I love lamb! Baaaa. LOL!
Such a great post, dear friend, thank you so much for sharing!
Is this place the rage now? Our guests took us there for dinner just a few weeks ago. Also ordered the meaty platter which my weak teeth cannot handle so I just nibble on one small piece of beef and one small piece of lamb which I find tough. I wanted to order the tiger prawn from sungai near but was reluctant to peel the prawns so didn't order. Just let the hosts did the ordering. Bill was rm430 shared by 3 parties including us.
ReplyDeleteTiger prawn from sungai besar because they say their food is MSG Malaysian Sourced Goodness
