This is the place that boasts of being "Probably the Best Chicken Karaage in your neighborhood". My last visit to this cafe was in 2024.
For lunch that day I had the Sandwich of the Day at Halla Holla.
Friday is Beef Sandwich at RM21.00 (regular price RM28.00) and with additional RM6.00, I get a coffee and cookie.
So I added the pearls into the drink. The pearls burst in my mouth with the same sweet honey flowery flavor.
Ah! Our main meal and sides. We both had the Signature Golden Karaage Set with Mustard Fruity Yogurt.
The edamame were not tender and salty enough. Meanwhile the chicken gyoza were just OK. There is nothing like pork gyoza, so.
The chicken karaage was very good - well seasoned with light crispy batter. This fried chicken is my partner's must order (as a side) at Japanese restaurants.
Underneath the chicken was rice and also in the bowl were edamame, seaweed and an onsen egg.
My partner told me that this was a very good meal, so I take it that he was happy to eat his favorite Japanese fried chicken.

6 p.m. at a restaurant was nice and quiet? That's great! I eat dinner between 5 and 5:30 p.m., because first of all, I am used to eating at this time, it gives me more time to digest my meal before going to bed and it's a habit I have had since I was a child, as my mother always had supper ready at 5 p.m. Here in Montreal it's around 6 p.m. and later when the restaurants get busier and noisier. So I am happy you had some quiet in what looks like a comfortable ambiance for a good meal.
ReplyDeleteThe eggs look delicious!
And I love the quote as always, dear friend!
I usually eat dinner early too just like you! I find it more practical to eat early. Then I can retire early and can have come quality time to myself to read and unwind.
DeleteI like the duck bowls. Very cute 😊
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that your partner is very satisfied with this meal. 👍
I thought the duck bowls were cute too!
DeleteI'm doubting the last quote....but storm destroyed roofs, fell trees, causing traffic havoc, jams and flood the railways😅
ReplyDeleteLOL! This one is referring to the "storm" in our life when things become huru-hara and when you take a deep breath and step back, you will see the situation clearer and can resolve the issues. I think so lah hah..hah...hah...
DeleteThat looks so good. *drooling
ReplyDeleteIt was delish!
DeleteThe ambience at Chic cafe looks romantic wor...all the food sounds and looks tasty, I am sure I will enjoy this meal like your lahling too.
ReplyDeleteIt's not bad, quite a cosy place but if it was full house, may not be that nice.
DeleteWas about to ask you if Chic Cafe is Japanese until I read to the end cos the name of this restaurant does not sound Japanese hee hee
ReplyDeleteWell, the food here I would say is Japanese inspired because they also serve unagi (eel) and Japanese style desserts.
DeleteI guess the storms in the quote refer to emotional storms, it helps to clear your vision to be the kind of person you want to be and don't want to be. Hope my translation is somehow correct. Have a blessed and good day ahead! Oh ya, TGIF, almost forgot, time really flies!
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right! Happy weekend to you and me!
DeleteWah, a lunch....and a date night on the same day! ;) I don't know why but when I'm at Japanese restaurants, kaarage seems to be the last thing on my mind to order....hee..hee. Glad your partner had a good kaarage.
ReplyDeleteheh..heh... When there is no complaint coming from him, I can safely assume he had a good experience. LOL!
