I was very attracted to the menu which included Big Breakfast, sandwiches, set meals, pastries and of course, coffee.
Oh wow. The cafe is very nicely decorated with potted plants and artificial flowers at every corner.
Ordering and payment is done at the counter.
Then I waited for my Big Breakie Breakfast.
It was a sensory overload of (faux) pretty flowers and plants which I liked. Some of the potted plants are live plants.
Half an hour had passed when I went to the counter to check on my order. I was assured that it was coming.
Some twenty minutes later, the couple who came shortly after I did, were served first. Hmmm. But I did not make a fuss. Since I was not in a hurry and there is no point getting hot under the collar.
After almost an hour of waiting, I was finally served. Maybe that was a blessing because by then I was super hungry hah...hah... When you are hungry, anything tastes good.
What was on my plate were :
- Eggs - looked like scrambled but more of an omelette from the texture. It was all right.
- Hashbrown - I liked it. I mean who doesn't like hashbrown?
- Processed meats - smoked chicken ham, sausage and beef bacon. I liked the beef bacon.
- Mushrooms - these I loved.
- Baked beans - I love baked beans, so.
- Salad drizzled with sesame dressing - nice
- And at the center was a toasted bagel - nice
It was a nice enough big breakfast. Not remarkable and not disappointing either.
I was given this cookie on the house to make up for the long wait. I appreciated the gesture. Who wouldn't be appeased by a cookie, right?
This is a big cookie (which I presume is cranberry cookie) isn't baked with butter since there was no buttery taste or aroma. When I chewed the cookie it became clay-like in my mouth. Not a pleasant mouthfeel and lumpy to swallow.
In spite of the long wait and average big breakfast, I am glad I visited.
Hi dear friend, I love all your photos! Your first plate looks like a traditional Quebec breakfast! Bacon, sausage or ham, with eggs, toast, potatoes and baked beans! I love the one with bacon. Not all restaurants serve the baked beans with a breakfast, but some do. I have to say that I like bacon, sausage and ham, but never have more than one in a dish. So I choose one of the three, depending on what I am in the mood for. I love a cozy corner seat as well!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the fact that you had to wait as long as you did for your meal, and that a couple that ordered after you got their meal first! Although there may be an explanation for this, it just doesn't sound nice.
I am glad that you were not in a hurry, took it in your stride and stayed relaxed! Good for you!
I am not a big fan of cookies, but I do like peanut butter, oatmeal or chocolate chip. This cranberry one you had doesn't look appealing to me at all!
Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend, and I hope you have a wonder filled day!
