I Love You I Love Yoo!

Last weekend as usual I went to work. What do I look forwards to? Clearing my work? No lah.

Grabfood self-pick up hah..hah... 

Tekan-tekan my phone and I ordered self-pick up from two places.


I was initially looking forwards to picking something up from Annie 1 but orders were closed. I think they had many orders and had to take a break.


This messy looking thing is Taiwanese Crispy Fried Chicken Steak with Rice from Taiwan Braised Pork Rice with added egg, pickled mustard and braised minced pork (greedy as usual).


The crispy fried chicken steak was no longer that crispy and looked a mess.


This is the rice with pickled mustard, braised minced pork, stewed eggs (there were two) and a piece of beancurd.


The fried chicken was pretty good, moist and tasty. This meal was very satisfying.


I also got something from I Love Yoo!@The Starling. I was first introduced to I Love Yoo! by my brother. All that time, I was able to exercise self restraint and did not frequent the kiosk to get my (childhood) favorite hamching peng (which they call 5 Spice Bun).

I got me some 5 Spice Buns and Fried Nian Gao.


I haven't eaten this for ages.


Oh gosh it was so good! Even though it was cold, the batter was still very crispy. Loved the orange sweet potato and nian gao. Definitely will buy some more next weekend. LOL!


When I was a little girl, I super loved hamching peng. I preferred it to yu char kway (yutiao).


This I also have not eaten in a long while.


I still love it but this one is not as good as the one I had from the Section 17 market. But it is good enough to satisfy my love for hamching peng.

It looks like tapau is now the order of the day.

  1. We have very nice hamching peng at my neighbourhood shop in the next lane. My missus loves those, maybe I'll buy one of these days and blog about it. Last time, we used to buy from Kuching for her - the ones in this Foochow town, not nice. I guess it is not a Foochow delicacy.

    Glad to see paper bags being used, not all plastic! The brown ones are good as they soak the oil of whatever fried stuff that is pit inside.

  2. I have fried nian gao with sweet potato sometime this year. Yum yum. I like it too.

    Good to order food and collect from your office.

  3. Oh, you like the savoury ham Chim peang. I prefer the one with red bean inside, don't know what to call it because it is not ham aka salty but I still call it ham Chim peang with red bean fillings. I too prefer this to you tiao. The dessert shop nearby is always closed so I think I need to wait till it opens back to buy ham Chim peang to eat. Ya, I also notice some shops will not accept orders from apps sometimes. Guess they have too many orders to manage. That taiwanese meal sure looks satisfying.

  5. Long time did not eat ham chi peng, I like the savory ones too. Guess Annie 1 is overwhelming with orders. One of your favorites right, Annie 1? Hee hee.

  6. I can't say I Love Yoo all that much though I've not tried their fried nian gao. Their fried dough is ok but can get better tasting ones from many roadside stalls (even the one from my neighbourhood stall). Among their fried dough I have to agree their ham ching peng is the best (that incidentally is my husband's favourite). I love all types of fried dough! You need to get your partner to take you to the roadside stall in SS2 (manned by a Chinese man & Indian lady, husband & wife team + son), that's my favourite (if I'm in the vicinity).

    Incidentally, I'm having Taiwanese lou rou fan for dinner tonight. Though I have to say I've not seen stewed eggs that dark before....the sauce must be really thick! ^_~ Ah, the pickled mustard this time is definitely ham choy...love it when it's boiled until super soft.

    1. Me too, I love fried dough, the very thing that is not so healthy and goes straight to my belly, thighs and hips. LOL! Ah, I must check out the SS2 stall you mentioned. There is another one run by an old lady in a van under the tree. Her fried nian gao is da bomb.

      That's what I noted too, the eggs were very dark hee..hee.. I super love the ham choy!

  7. I found that the container I got from Taiwan Braised Pork Rice is different with yours, mine is paper bowl. I think they are different seller with similar name.
    There is a I Love Yoo outlet at the place I have my weekly outdoor jog and sometimes I got my breakfast there too after my jog. I normally buy You Tiao + hot soy milk.
