It rains a lot in the evenings these days. I love the rain and it has a calming effect on me. Of course I only love the rain when I am indoors!
Last Saturday evening, my partner and I went to Chili's @ 1 Utama. For the first time, it was so quiet.
Last Sunday, the parking lot at the old wing was empty when we got there.
I am still eating chap fan.
As you can see, I was very hungry until cannot see the rice - sweet and sour pork, brinjal, long beans and some kind of gourd (RM9.00).
I had this one on the day of the unscheduled water disruption. That's why the plate was lined with plastic. Looks like I could't resist the luncheon meat again (RM9.00).
This curry mee I had on the day before the WFH order was to take effect. I was feeling a bit down, so I thought the curry mee would cheer me up. It did 😋
Ah! I found these pics in my phone. I have not been to Seoul Station at The Starling for a long time now.
Food post!! All looked delicious. The dishes on chap fan looked good to me.
ReplyDeleteNow I cook more at home, rarely tapau dishes. Sad to see the carpark so empty. Long time I did not go to shopping malls.
I just go to the mall to buy what I need or makan. No more jalan2 or browsing like before. I really miss that :(
DeleteSeems like people is listening to DG advice to stay at home unless really necessary to go out. Your chap fan is so tempting! That long cob of corn will take me ages to finish.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I shared the corn with my partner.
Delete1Utama!!! Eeeeee...I would avoid all places where there were cases reported, never mind that they claim they have sanitised already...but I do like places where there are two other tables only...or one...or none. LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your chap fan platters...anytime for me, no, thank you to anything Korean. You did not state the prices, not cheap at all, I'm sure.
LOL! I like it like that too. Good for us but not good for the restaurant.
Deletethe food at Seoul Station looks good! instead of hoping 'it is still as good', I hope their business stays & survived the pandemic. So sad to see the empty restaurants and shops....
ReplyDeleteThey are still there, so hopefully they continue to stay.
DeleteYummy in the tummy food! Good that I am very full when I see these pictures..otherwise, I would have to dig for some snacks to keep myself from salivating! Yes, sad to see the empty parking lots, over here in Ipoh is the same, saw the hawkers sitting on chairs waiting for customers...
ReplyDeleteYes, even the mall near my office is much less crowded. I really miss those days when we can just casually jalan2 to look-see-look-see at the shops.
DeleteI see you like kangkung. I think that's called hairy gourd or hairy melon (I call it jit kua). I also can't resist when I see luncheon meat but must taste good, not those cheap knock-offs. I especially like it when it's coated in frizzy, crispy egg.
ReplyDelete1 Utama has been very unlucky. After the closing and sanitisation in Oct and just when people were starting to feel confident again, another employee (at Komugi 1U) was reported to have tested positive in Nov. That's probably why the place is deserted still.
Ya, many food businesses are struggling. I've also been to eateries where I see only one or two tables occupied. Some tell me that this second round of CMCO has affected their business even more than the first time. There are also less people tapau-ing. I guess this long-drawn pandemic is finally starting to affect people's pockets, so cooking and eating in is the cheapest (not to mention safest) alternative especially if you have a big family.
I love kangkung, even when just plain fried with garlic. Ah! hairy gourd. I loved those ever since I was young. The luncheon meat was a good one :)
DeleteI wonder how long it will take for the pandemic to be over or at least for the numbers to go down like before. It seems like infection rates go up and down daily. We may have a very subdued Christmas and Chinese New Year.
I used to curse this Chilli's because the long queue was always 1 kilometer long. Now boh lang!!!
ReplyDeleteNow 1-U is undergoing refurbishing and new coat of orangey colours outside. It will look exactly like Centrepoint's new jinjang colours. Wakakakakaka
Oh ya, I noticed the jinjang colors hah..hah... Now is the time to go to Chili's. Fast top get table and fast to get served!
DeleteOn the contrary, my mom hates the rain, she says it makes her feel gloomy. You are right, the luncheon meat in the chap fan looks good, i cannot resist too. I realised that i always order the same old dishes for my chap fan at chap fan stalls. Food makes me happy so whenever i feel down, i will go find my fav food to eat.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, some people find the rain makes them feel down. You are right, I also tend to take the same dishes that I like.
DeleteMy lunch box would be like yours whenever I tapao economy rice, a little rice (or no rice) with pile of dishes, LOL
ReplyDelete#greedy
LOL! I like to eat like that too, until I am fully satisfied :)
