Last Saturday my brother took me to Kadei by Manchula at Taman Megah. This shop lot used to be occupied by MyBanana, also a banana leaf establishment.
I took this photo many months ago when I first spotted Kadei. |
I actually noticed Kadei many months ago during one of my grocery run at the pork shop nearby. I mentioned it to my brother and he told me that the food is very good.
He used to visit MyBanana too and according to him the food was very good but had deteriorated in quality and freshness prior to their closing.
I was eager to try Kadei since I love Indian food and I have not eaten banana leaf rice in a long time since the MCO.
Service is very warm and friendly here. The staff who served us was a very humorous chap. The boss is also a very friendly guy.
For drinks I had a limau ais while my brother had a Nescafe ais kurang manis. He put in an order for masala mutton and wanted fried bittergourd which unfortunately was not available that day.
My brother also put in another order of sotong goreng which was the last dish to be served. It was also very good.
Suffice to say, I was very stuffed at the end of the meal. Many thanks to my brother for the delicious feast!
I thought I might not be able to eat dinner but .....
You should wear saree next time when you dine banana leaf meals. I was just eating my lunch at La Manila next door yesterday!!! I should have bumped into you. So near yet so far.
ReplyDeleteI will go to Kadei next week!!
Hah..hah.... One day I must try La Manila. You will enjoy the food at Kadei. There is a joker waiter there, so you guys can trade jokes. LOL!
DeleteI would order Limau Ais too. I plan to eat Indian food this Sunday too. Stay tuned!
ReplyDeleteThe masala mutton looks good, slurps!
I look forwards to read about your Indian food!
DeleteOooooo...I love banana leaf! The masala mutton looks good. I enjoy their cauliflower too...and I never missed ordering their bitter gourd! So sad, none here! Too few Indians.
ReplyDeleteIndian food is always good for me. So delicious, something very hard for me to attempt at home.
DeleteI've always loved fried cauliflower at Indian restaurants more than their fried bitter gourd actually...and would always order sotong goreng too. Since I don't like mutton, I guess I'll never know how good this mutton dish can be.
ReplyDeleteP/S: I think I first read about this place from TheFoodBunny (they're in my blogroll too) and I noticed you added that blog into your side bar recently (more like many months ago) as well. They first got my attention coz I realised they were big fans of eatdrinkkl (so sad that Sean has turned off comment mode, I miss the camaraderie and his inspiring comments on our blogs) as they'll visit the places that Sean had reviewed (usually within a week or two) and I do look forward to reading their honest opinion about the food since they don't (or hardly) do invited reviews.
I'll be sure to have fried cauliflower again whenever to have banana leaf rice. Sotong goreng goreng is my brother's favorite, so we always have that. Oh, too bad you dislike mutton. I am pretty sure they have something similar cooked with chicken.
DeleteOh yes, I will miss Sean's comments as he knows just the right thing to say!
the deep fried cauliflower is as good as deep fried bitter gourd, it is a MUST order for me when i go for banana leaf rice. I miss papadam, curries and the deep fried sotong!!!
ReplyDeleteNext time I will have both the cauliflower and the bittergourd hee..hee...
DeleteI recognize this place as I have eaten at mybanana once during lunch with my colleagues.i wonder if it is just a management change with the same cooks?
ReplyDeleteHmm... I don't know. Must ask the boss next time.
DeleteI'm not a fan of banana leaf rice but all those dishes you u ordered tickled my fancy, especially the mutton, a must for me if I visit any mamak/Indian restaurants.
ReplyDeleteWow very delicious food., i want to cook and taste it. please me some recipe to try hehehe
