Back on the Chap Fan Trail

Ahah! Somebody lazy to food prep is it? Well, sort of... actually I have decided to just prep one meal and the other meal, I eat out. That saves me time and effort. Now that I have two children cats, I find myself busier than ever.

Ever since the MCO started on 18-03-2020, I have not had chap fan. When the RMCO was implemented, my favorite chap fan stall was still not in operation. They are open now but I have chosen to have my chap fan at another location.

This restaurant is called 282 Mixed Rice and it is situated along the same row as Public Bank, Damansara Utama.

They offer quite a variety of dishes and prices are considered fair for this area.

You get free tea and soup.

Yup, I eat rice nowadays but I tell the server "nasi sikit saja" although I love "nasi banyak-banyak". This plate of rice, fried chicken drumstick, brinjals, sweet and sour tofu and long beans cost me RM9.00.

The next day I had spinach, sweet and sour pork and as you can tell, I  love the sweet and sour tofu. This one cost me RM8.00

Ooops! Sweet and sour tofu again, this time with marmite chicken, sweet potato leaves and some sort of spinach. This one is RM7.50.

This was an early dinner. Marmite chicken (again!), bittergourd, brinjals and cabbage. This meal costs RM8.00.

I'm quite happy with the food and this arrangement of one meal from home and one meal outside works very nicely.

I don't think I will get tired of the food here anytime soon, so they will see my face everyday hah..hah...

  1. Everything looks really very good. Got my eyes on the Marmite chicken, beautiful! I would pour some sauce over the rice if I go for chap fan, not so plain and white.

    1. Somehow I prefer my rice without gravy unless if I am eating curry.

  2. Love all your chapfan dinners. Good that you support them in this cmco time. I guess they don't have that many customers.

  3. I'm glad that you're back on the chap fan trail...and not the kimchi trail...kekeke! ;D Hmmm, something is missing from your chap fan though. Aha, where's the generous spoonful of cili api? Are the chillies in the sweet & sour tofu the replacement? ;) I do that too...ask for sikit nasi. Prices of RM8 - RM9 for 4 selections are certainly very decent. At those prices, why bother to food prep, right?

Haha, don't say I didn't warn you about taking on two cats. Soon you may not even have time to food prep one meal...kekeke. The workload involved with taking care of two cats will only increase with age (and by that I mean their age, especially so when they become senior cats...and have a medical condition). Belle will soon be a senior cat. But, in return, you do get lots of unconditional love :)

    1. hahaha...I actually miss chap fan for the convenience and variety. Ah, they do provide cili api with soy sauce placed in a common container for customers to help themselves. But somehow I was not confident in taking. The CMCO has made me a bit wary heh.. heh...

You were right, two cats really take up my time. Especially Belle who is still fighting off some infections. I will blog about it soon.

  4. I have eaten at this mixed rice shop few times and even tapao home. Business has been good for them. My wife loves their Pai Kuat in sweet sauce. The thick meat is so tender always.
Nowadays I would drive further to Taman Megah's mixed rice shop at night. It is very huge, air cond and very cheap! Try it. Guaranteed bagus and sedap giler.

    1. Oh! I did not see their pai kuat in sweet sauce. I must look out for it. Ah, yes! The Taman Megah chap fan shop I have tried and also blogged about it previously. Perhaps I should revisit.

  6. I thought a lot of people will throng the chap fan stalls for tapao, coz those WFH has no time to cook and kids need to eat at home too. Over here in my taman, the chap fan stalls are in good business and dishes selling out like there is no tomorrow.

  8. Price is certainly reasonable... over here in Ipoh, for 3 dishes near my place, it is around 8rm too. Yes, one meal in and one meal out is not so taxing on us! hahaha..
