His Cooking Again

Wanna see some more of my partner's cooking? heh..heh... These days he very rajin to snapshot pictures of his dishes for me.

He still cooks his favorite lah - porridge with fried mackerel and omelette.

And there will be the occasional salted duck egg.

Sometimes, when it is too late in the evening, cereals will do.

Or canned sardines.

Or leftover soup.

The other day he cooked noodles with oink oink.

This chicken and potato dish looks like something my mum used to cook when I was growing up.

Eh, what's this?

Lazy to cook, just tapau CKT.

He eats durian with rice. Very strange to me.

When he fries eggs, the yolks must be fully cooked.

This is his sandwich, which toppled over because it was super loaded with veggies.

He made fried chicken thighs and ter-accidentally burnt one piece.

In another attempt, both pieces kena burnt.

This one, turned out nicely, no burns.

This is his version of my one pot rice.

Sometimes his friends post food photos on their whatsapp group and he will share with me.

Yum! Yum! CKT and asam laksa. Dunno from where, possibly a restaurant in Penang.

The above are ingredients for bak chang which a friend's wife was selling in Penang.

He loves peanut soup. I have learnt to enjoy it too. At first it was strange to me.

Sometimes, extras are kept for the following evening.

This was a simple dinner with company. You gotta love a man who can cook!

  1. I am quite sure he can cook a lot better than snap photographs. Some are rather blur. LOL!!! Yes, we had durian with rice in our younger days, not anymore though - hardly bother to go and buy. Hmmmm...he's not my friend - I don't like fried eggs the way he likes them. :D :D :D

  6. Durian and rice is a big no no for me. Not because I cannot accept it, I can but because eating them together will make my blood sugar shoot up sky high and perhaps cause me to be diabetic.

  10. My man doesn't cook. How I wish I have a man who does. So, when he cooks, do you partake in the fruits of his labour or you cook your own? ;) But then he likes to cook porridge which (I remember) you don't quite like (+ I also see dishes that are his cup of tea but not yours (those bland ones like the tofu & okra)...haha! :D Since he cooks for you, you should 'reward' (and surprise) him by making him a good porridge one day...hee..hee. When it comes to canned food, canned sardines (with onions) is among the top in my list. I have relatives who eat durian with rice too (and I found it weird too). They say durian lovers will eat durian with anything...lol. From the few dishes you've showcased here, oink-oink seems to be his favourite protein....and I see he likes it wobbly (as in the pork belly with peanut soup). I've had eanut soup with chicken feet (outside) which turned out quite nice actually. P/S: Why are some of his photos blur while some are not?

    1. A man who doesn't cook may have other talents! My partner eats late while I eat early before I come home. Our taste in food is quite different as you observed, but we do have some in common like chicken rice hah..hah... I have cooked him porridge before but it might not be a good one but yes, I must make an effort! My partner thinks that pork is more nutritious than chicken, especially Pearl pork (no antibiotics). Some of his photos are blur because he took them in a hurry. He is not like us, we make sure our pictures are in focus hah..hah.

  11. This post really tickled me a lot. Your partner is definitely a Penang Kia because he eats durian with rice and drinks peanut soup like me. We both can be siau lang and sit in the kopi-tiam to drink kopi-O for hours while cursing the world politics.

    1. Oh, eating durian with rice is a Penang thing. In Terenganu, we put durian in budu and eat with our meals like fried fish etc. But that is something I don't enjoy. Durian should eaten by itself. To me lah. LOL!
