Vegetarian For One Whole Day

One day I was sick so I stayed home. And there was no food in the fridge. Bah!

Luckily these days we have food delivery. Come lunch time, I used Grabfood to order my lunch (and dinner) from EAT 21 @ Damansara Uptown. I reckon that some clean eating would do me much good.

I ordered The Super Bowl and The Best Marigold. Since I was at home, I wanted to take the opportunity to make The Super Bowl more to my liking.

With time on my hands and nothing better to do, I removed the contents from the paper container and arranged them in a bowl.

This is the first time that I had a good look at all the ingredients. I saw chickpeas which I never noticed before.

Clockwise from top - roasted potatoes, chickpeas, brown rice, quinoa, mushrooms and green peas in the center.

I made some crispy garlic.

And I drizzled the garlic and oil and added an egg (for additional protein) and chilies .

Then I remembered I had some spring onions in the fridge.

I also made a condiment of raw garlic with soya sauce. I'm a garlic junkie. Yes! The Super Bowl was very much to my liking thanks to the added garlic and spring onions.

The Best Marigold was meant for dinner. I ordered in advance because EAT 21 closes at 2:30pm.

Like what I did with The Super Bowl, I transferred the contents into a bowl. It was quite challenging to separate the individual ingredients. But like I said, I had nothing better to do.

What we have here clockwise from top - curried chickpeas, roasted potatoes, quinoa, brown rice and green peas topped with shallots and pickles.

The Best Marigold is already delicious on its own but I added some fresh mint (just because I had some in the garden) for added aroma.

The portion size for both meals were very generous, so filling and satisfying. I did not miss eating meat at all and like before, I enjoyed my plant based meals. Maybe I will attempt going meat-free for a week and see how I feel.

  2. now you've made me feel sad that eat 21 is not in my delivery range - am just slightly out of range from damansara uptown! completely meat-free for a week might be a challenge - maybe allow fish for that week :)

  4. I'm assuming there's no sauce to tie this vegetarian bowl together. If that's the case, one can prepare this easily at home I believe. What do you think are the components that's making you full? The quinoa and potatoes? I'm wondering if I can attempt to cook quinoa at home and make it taste delicious. :P

    1. I guess we could prepare this at home but there are a few components to prepare so I most likely won't bother hee..hee... What made me full I believe are the chickpeas, quinoa and brown rice - full of fiber! I have yet to attempt cooking quinoa but I read that we could make it delicious by cooking with chicken or vegetable stock. Maybe one day I will try that :)

Yesterday I thought of ordering foodpanda but then after going through the list of the outlets, none attracted me.. eventually saved by the bell... my neighbour, she "derma" a plate of fried noodles to me!!
