Brunch@Sri Paandi (PJ)

A day after my birthday, my brother took me to Restoran Sri Paandi (PJ) for brunch. We already had an early celebration and this was my el cheapo treat.

I have been wanting to eat Indian curry for quite some time, so this visit to Sri Paandi was timely.

It wasn't very busy at that hour but we had trouble getting the server's attention.

This guy and his cohorts basically ignored us. In spite of my brother signalling to them, they just walked past us looking all busy and bothered. My brother assured me that it was nothing like that when he visits early in the mornings for breakfast.

Finally the guy decides to come over and take our orders.

We had thosai, one each.

Side dishes of curried potatoes, spinach, ladies fingers and mutton varuval. Eh, I forgot to snap a photo of the sotong goreng (fried squids).

Three types of gravy for us to help ourselves with - dhall, chicken and fish.

There's chutney too.

My brother tried to look for fork and spoon and my goodness, it took so long to get our cutlery. The servers were not helpful  at all and the cutleries in the tray at one of the tables were stained with gravy! But my brother finally got someone to help him. Service here was quite appalling that day.

But the food was good and I enjoyed the thosai a lot.

My brother also got us one roti canai to share. I did not take a photo as it was all messy with delicious curry hee..hee...

Oh, I got to confirm that the rubber band-like thingy in squid that I discovered here is legit hah...hah...

I was so stuffed and it was quite a struggle to finish the food, delicious as it was. Total damage RM37.40.

After my brother dropped me off at my office, I got this whatsapp from him.

My naughty brother sneaked off to IlaoIlao. Without me wahahaha!!

Genetics hah...hah....

  1. Ooooo...I love banana leaf! Curried potatoes look good, maybe I can try cooking my own. Don't they remove that rubber band like thing when they clean the squids?

Hmmmm...maybe they don't mind your brother but they did not like your looks so they ignored you two. LOL!!!

  4. Don't know is it common for indians to have such attitude, i ever went to an indian restaurant to order drink, the "boss" was very stern and "ordered" me, you wait! I have not done my calculation yet. Tsk tsk!

    1. Some of them, not all. Maybe the business is so good that they become arrogant.

  5. Ignoring customers when (I can see too) they're not even busy is unacceptable. No matter how good their food is (I believe this is a franchise), I'll probably go elsewhere. >_< There are other worthy Indian restaurants in your Uptown area (Ratha Raub) or PJ (Kanna) that you and your brother can visit...and maybe even come off with a better dining experience.

  7. I love to have a brother like him with bottomless pit!! Sounds like me! Ask him adopt me ok.

I have tried various Indian Restaurants and I would say many had lousy services all the time. I always felt like being in a circus and waving to elephants to come over. Muahahahaha

Go try my good friend's family chain at Lotus Restaurant along Jalan Gasing. Food is good and service is faster than bullet trains. Samy Veloo is their client too.

    1. LOL! They always try their best to look super busy, that's what I noticed from the past at some other places too. Yes, I am familiar with Lotus. That is a long standing brand and I have had their curries since secondary school days.

  8. Since the service is bad, next time when you feel like eating Indian cuisine, you can go to other nice places near uptown. Wah, your brother should have took you along to buy llao llao and you could just walk back to your office from Starling as exercise.
