Where Is The Handsome Doctor?

To me the most handsome doctor on TV was Dr Kildare played by my most favorite leng chai (even though he is now very old), Richard Chamberlain. I still think he is very handsome.

I mean, step aside Brad Pitt or Chris Hemsworth or whoever it is who is hot these days (I am very old school).

I digress. There is this handsome doctor who runs a restaurant.

And his wife is a doctor too. Mind you, she is an anesthetist. Is that super cool or what? We got to meet her that evening as she helps out when she if off duty.

I have been to Simply Ribs@TTDI oncetwice and a few more times after that. Well, another visit was in order with my parents recently.

When we arrived, the good doctor was nowhere to be seen. We were informed by his staff (when this kaypoh aunty asked) that he was at the gym.

We tried some new items on the menu.

The Fried Mushrooms made for a very nice starter. It was crispy and meaty and very good dipped in the honey mustard dip. Loved this!

Good items must be revisited and this Grilled Prawn and Calamari Salad was as amazing as ever. I really enjoyed the well charred and smoky seafood which paired so well with the tangy Thousand Island dressing and fresh greens.

My dad opted for the Fried Kuey Teow. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the kuey teow was. It's not like Penang fried kuey teow but in a class of its own. We never expected a place like this to dish out good fried kuey teow.

Mum, having no idea what to eat, opted for the Fish & Chips although we already had fish & chips for lunch that day.

My brother picked the Grilled New Zealand Lamb with his choice of black pepper sauce (the other option is mushroom sauce).

They were very generous with the sauce and we like it that way though some people might say that the natural taste of the lamb would be drowned by all that sauce.

My mum tasted a bit of the lamb and proclaimed that it was so much better than the one she had on our previous visit. In fact she regretted ordering the Fish & Chips (not that it wasn't good). Never mind, next trip she can have the lamb.

My brother kindly shared a portion of his lamb with me in exchange for a portion of my Rolled Beef Lasagna. Now let me tell you about the lasagna.

Does it not look gorgeous? Though I felt that the sprig of rosemary would have been better substituted with Italian parsley as garnishing. This lasagna is rolled and stuffed with minced beef instead of the conventional lasagna layered with meat sauce.

I have eaten beef lasagna before and enjoyed it. But that was a long, long time ago and I was not so sure if I could stomach all that cheese now.

But hey, I found this lasagna delizioso! The sauce was amazingly good and I tasted fresh tomatoes. But just to confirm, I asked the Dr Adnan (when he came to our table to say hello) if he used canned or fresh tomatoes. Fresh! was his reply. Well, no wonder the sauce is so so good. I dislike canned tomatoes.

My bowl licked clean, testament to how good the lasagna was. This Rolled Beef Lasagna is best shared as it is very rich and too much for one person to handle. If you love lasagna, you have to try this one. It is the best that I have tasted so far.

For drinks, my parents had the Iced Lemon Tea.

My brother's favorite is always a hot Latte.

And for me, an iced Americano as usual. It was my third coffee of the day (I usually have only one) and that evening I could not sleep until the early hours of morning. Note to self : Next time no coffee at dinner.

All of us enjoyed the excellent dinner and many thanks to mum who again insisted on giving us a treat.

  4. Oh Gosh! If this Richard Chamberlain is still so handsome, then I must be drop dead gorgeous and more handsome than him... Muahahahaha Sorry, my muka tembok mode today.

Jokes aside, I am surprised that this very familiar place is being operated by a husband & wife doctors. I must check it out someday since this is your 2nd or 3rd visit & many visits already. I will show him your blog post to get some discounts! Hee hee... Your mum is so good and loving! My mum used to foot all our family meals no matter how many thousands it cost until her last 2 months of life. Mother's love is so big & unbelievable!

  5. I guess a trip to Simply Ribs is a must since you sing so high praises of the food there! I guess both doctors do not do the cooking but they hire chefs to do the cooking?

  7. I suppose good food needs to be repeated...and, by that, I mean literally...hahaha! :D Your brother had your mom's grilled lamb, your mom had your dad's fish & chips...kekeke (psst...I re-read your previous post)! ;) As for lasagna, it's a no-no for me...too much cheese! O_o I can see why you'd return to this place over and over again coz you know the owners and they give you special service (+ there's also a handsome doctor in the house?). People tend to endear themselves to a place when they're made to feel at home, feel special :)

  15. I like the lamb but prefer mushroom sauce. But mushroom sauce with lamb sounds weird, doesn't it? As I thought, mushroom sauce usually goes with chicken chop.

The Lasagna looks yummy, in SG there is a famous Doctor blogger too who shoots and posts food photos, another doctor with love for food.
