Love A Bowl

Since January 2025, I have been feeding my girls with real meat - chicken and liver.

Sometimes they get to share beef trimmings with me.

If I had deep pockets, I would be able to feed them with high quality human grade canned cat food. The cheaper ones contain fillers and gelling agents (aka carbohydrates).

Cats are obligate carnivores and they have to eat meat although we know that people feed them with all sorts of food even rice and vegetables.

I get my supply from Daco Petsmart at Damansara Utama. This brand, Loveabowl (70g), costs RM3.68 (member price). Regular price is RM4.60.

This one is Tuna Ribbons & Red Snapper.

This is what the contents look like.

Do you see Girl in the background? She was pacing back and forth, very impatient.

Just transfer the contents into a bowl.

No thickener or gelling agents, just fish and broth.

Girl loved it. I know it is unfair, only Girl gets to eat this canned food as a treat once a week.

This is how much she loved the fish. Bowl licked clean!

But that was just an appetizer for her LOL! So I let her have some more food from the group meal of chicken and liver.

Update on my sauerkraut. This is day four of fermentation. Every day in the morning and evening, I open the cover and push the content down to submerge the vegetables under the brine. The smell was wonderful.

  1. Hello dear friend, yes indeed, cats are carnivores and need meat! I have heard terrible stories of vegetarians who tried to make their felines vegetarian and this either seriously harmed the cat's health or killed them. Very sad.
The cat food cans are attractive, and this sweet orange Tabby cat was happy enough to devour the food!
Although I absolutely love cabbage, I have never tried sauerkraut. Not sure if I would like it.
Thank you so much for sharing, and I hope Lotus is O.K., I haven't seen her around. If you don't mind, please give her my best wishes. :)

    1. I have also heard of vegetarians who feed their dogs only vegetables! One case I was told resulted in the poor doggie becoming so weak it could not walk. Poor thing. Lotus is well and she addressed your kind concern in her comment below.

  3. Hi, I am back! Did not have access to my laptop 💻 for a few days. So have been online via my mobile phone. Good morning to Linda! You are a very thoughtful friend I told PH.
And yes PH, can see Girl in the background in your photos lol. Luckily she did not fall asleep waiting for you. Aiyo, no wonder Girl is such an adorable fatty BOM BOM because you feed her real well.
Same as Linda, not sure if I will like sauerkraut. Wonder will the taste be too sour/sharp for me? Like they say in Hokkien, Jing Lai.
Nite nite today like weekend when I sleep late 💤😴

    1. Good to have you back! Sauerkraut is an acquired taste. It is salty and sour but not too sour. Hope you had a good sleep!

  5. I feed Poppy grain-free Cindy recipe too that costs slightly cheaper at RM2.80 a pkt (which does have a bit of jelly in it which she somehow particularly likes)...and she eats that on a daily basis. She doesn't seem that ga ga over the pure meat Cindy I got (in a can) for her, so those I give her occasionally.

    1. Your little princess has delicate taste! I also used to feed Girl and Belle Belle with the Cindy packets and they loved it a lot. But now with 4 cats, cannot tahan LOL!
