Menya Hanabi, Damansara Utama

Just the other day, my partner told me that he was treated to dinner at a Japanese restaurant in Damansara Utama.

He told me that the noodles are quite good and at the end of the meal, you can request for rice to mop up whatever is left in the bowl after you have finished your noodles. Sounds like a great place for carb addicts hah..hah..hah...

Curious, I asked him, what is the name of the restaurant. As usual lah, he only knows how to eat and can never remember the name of the venue. All he could tell me is that it is somewhere behind OCBC Bank.

So his madam went to investigate. I do a lot of surveying in Damansara Uptown/Utama heh..heh... (But apparently missed the existence of this eatery).

This row which faces the main road is a rather dead part of Damansara Utama where it can be deathly quiet. My partner reckons (in fengshui terms) it is because this row is lower than the facing main road. Dunno lah

I snapped this photo and my lahling confirmed yah..yah..that's the place. Since I was there, I kepoh-kepoh snap photos of the menu.

They serve Mazesoba, which I found out is a noodle dish where you mix up all the ingredients.

My partner said what he had (he didn't snap photo) was very good.

See they even have instructions on how to eat Mazesoba.

Step 3 is where you ask for a scoop of rice to mop up all the leftover sauce. I can see that this is totally my partner's type of thing - carbs and then more carbs.

I am pretty sure I would really enjoy all the noodles galore as I love this sort of thing too.

And then there's the ramen. Hopefully it is also good.

If you prefer rice, they have got you covered with these rice bowls.

They've got sides too. My partner didn't mention if he had sides.

Oh, there's also add-ons. I would say no to the cheese and curry powder. I wonder what is ranou.

These are the beverages and for sure my choice would be green tea. Maybe one day I will drop by and get  a taste of mazesoba.

  3. Wah, your lahling got taste lah....high Google rating for this place (I'm sure we'll find you there soon). ^_~ I've not had mazesoba either. With your description of what you can do with leftover sauce, I'm thinking the sauce is probably quite robust in flavour. P/S: As for ranou, from the pic in the menu, I think it looks like an egg yolk....probably marinated that you can add to your rice bowl.

  4. Oh, can't wait for your review after you have been there and have a feast. I trust that it is very good as your partner is particular about his food, he won't say is good if it wasn't. From your description I sort of know where it is. Let me go check the map to confirm.
