Just the other day, my partner told me that he was treated to dinner at a Japanese restaurant in Damansara Utama.
He told me that the noodles are quite good and at the end of the meal, you can request for rice to mop up whatever is left in the bowl after you have finished your noodles. Sounds like a great place for carb addicts hah..hah..hah...
Curious, I asked him, what is the name of the restaurant. As usual lah, he only knows how to eat and can never remember the name of the venue. All he could tell me is that it is somewhere behind OCBC Bank.
So his madam went to investigate. I do a lot of surveying in Damansara Uptown/Utama heh..heh... (But apparently missed the existence of this eatery).
This row which faces the main road is a rather dead part of Damansara Utama where it can be deathly quiet. My partner reckons (in fengshui terms) it is because this row is lower than the facing main road. Dunno lah.
I snapped this photo and my lahling confirmed yah..yah..that's the place. Since I was there, I kepoh-kepoh snap photos of the menu.
See they even have instructions on how to eat Mazesoba.
Step 3 is where you ask for a scoop of rice to mop up all the leftover sauce. I can see that this is totally my partner's type of thing - carbs and then more carbs.
Goshhhh!!!! The prices!!! You did not eat anything, just snapped photographs of the menu?
ReplyDeleteI have not tried the food yet, one of these days.
Deletei haven't try any mazesoba before. The facade of this shop looks plain from the outside, mana tau it serves good ramen/soba/rice bowls.
ReplyDeleteGot good reviews, so one day I must step inside.
DeleteWah, your lahling got taste lah....high Google rating for this place (I'm sure we'll find you there soon). ^_~ I've not had mazesoba either. With your description of what you can do with leftover sauce, I'm thinking the sauce is probably quite robust in flavour. P/S: As for ranou, from the pic in the menu, I think it looks like an egg yolk....probably marinated that you can add to your rice bowl.
ReplyDeleteMy lahling was invited, if on his own I doubt he will visit LOL! Oh, if ranou is marinated egg yolk, then I will surely order it hee..hee..
DeleteOh, can't wait for your review after you have been there and have a feast. I trust that it is very good as your partner is particular about his food, he won't say is good if it wasn't. From your description I sort of know where it is. Let me go check the map to confirm.
ReplyDeleteYes, my partner if he says good, it mean goods hah..hah...
DeleteI tried this (at Plaza Arkadia outlet) and you may read my review here -> http://www.choiyen.com/menya-hanabi/
ReplyDeleteThe Mazesoba is worth trying. :)
Ah, thanks for the link, I will check your review.
DeleteWow... you are the Food surveyor!! I like trying out new places and their food too! Can't wait to see what your order is....
ReplyDeleteI wish it could be my job. LOL!
DeleteLooking forward to your review of the food after you have tried out the food. Should be good. I would be curious to try too if I am staying nearby.
ReplyDeleteI am also curious and will try soon.
DeleteHope you get to try the dishes out soon. I never try mazesoba.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am keen to try so that I will know how it tastes like.
