When we go on our grocery run, my partner goes around picking up his fruits, vegetables and other stuff that he eats.
As for me, it's just one item - meat. And then I am very free to walk around the store to look at poison things that most people eat (which I also used to eat).
This week I focused on instant noodles. When I was growing up, the hot new sensation was Maggi Mee. Now there are so many instant noodle brands.
Instant nasi lemak flavored instant fried beehoon. Imagine the chemicals, additives and preservatives that go into the making of the flavorings of these noodles (and the noodles itself).
My dorm mates at matriculation loved Maggi instant noodles. They boil water in a pail (using a water immersion heater) to cook a few packets of noodles to share.

I'm amazed by the wide variety of instant noodles in the market!
ReplyDeleteYes, so many these days!
DeleteGood morning ππ meow meow am happy to see you girls. π π πΊ π⬛ Feel like stroking you girls. Oh yes, was strolling inside our neighborhood supermarket, now that you featured then I discovered that we have TANGLE instant pasta too and that got me curious. But we do not have so much variety as yours. When I was a kid, cooking and eating instant noodles with the TV cartoon show in front of me was the biggest happiness, how I wish I am a kid again, simple things like these can make me happy for days. Why do we have to grow up and become adults with complicated minds and not take joy in the simplest things like a kid. Thought π of the day
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Most people think like that - want to go back to their childhood days but not me. I am a lot happier now and don't want to go back to being a kid. LOL!
DeleteNext you can feature Eggs. I found different types of egg in our supermarket, there are the "first born eggs" π₯, "cage free eggs which are certified humane that include nutritious diet without antibiotics, animals raised with shelter, resting areas, sufficient space and with the ability to engage in natural behaviors.", "Kampong eggs", "carrots eggs π₯", "omega 6 eggs", "omega 3 eggs", "jumbo or King's size eggs", "rise and shine corn π½ rich eggs" and so on. The two big brands in our supermarket are Seng Choon and Chew's.
ReplyDeleteWow I never thought of the variety of eggs in the supermarket. This is the first time I heard of first born eggs. Let me go look see at the supermarket.
DeleteBy the way, sometimes I hit published for my comment, it appeared 2 times in your blog post, is it bcos I hit too fast?
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but what I know is that some comments go to spam even though they are legit comments. So I check my spam folder daily. Even my own comments sometimes end up in spam!
DeleteHi dear friend, your cats π π» π⬛️ are precious.
ReplyDeleteWhen I make pasta, I buy the plain spaghettini noodles and a bottle of vegan sauce. I don't purchase the type of noodles in your photos. I try to not eat much packaged foods.
Me too, the less processed foods we eat the better. I also used to buy spaghetti and make my own sauce. Perhaps I should revisit homecooked pasta one day.
DeleteI can imagine you walking around the supermarket taking photos of instant noodles π
ReplyDeleteAh Boi is a sleek beauty π
Why was Girl not looking at mommy? Kittie Kat and Girl turning themselves into π π
hah..hah... Girl always has that sombong look.
DeleteGirl 'acting so elegant' unbothered by mummy taking her picπ. I grew up eating maggi instant noodles, then i stopped during my teenage years, start again when working, but now i will only eat when there's no food at home, or couldn't go out buy food coz raining.
ReplyDeleteI used to eat Maggi too and add chicken, veggies and eggs. It was actually quite delicious hee..hee...
DeleteYes, I do and will eat this....but try to not eat so much of it. I love its convenience...nowadays not only are there instant noodles, they have instant rice too. I've stock of Chef Zam's instant nasi lemak and Magic Cook's rendang rice (surprisingly they're both good) in my pantry for those too lazy to cook and rainy days! :D
ReplyDeleteInstant rice? Wow I didn't know that! Yes, I agree that it is convenient and a life saver for those lazy and rainy days.
