Baker's Barn Lunch Set

Since my first visit to Baker's Barn Bakery & Cafe, Damansara Jaya, I thought I would give the cafe another try.

So come lunch time, I walked across via the pedestrian bridge. It was a moderately hot day because it rained in the morning.

The menu for the Weekday Lunch Set "as low as RM19.90" is very attractive. The sets come with a complimentary drink.

I chose the Baker's Club Burger and my drink of choice was (of course) black coffee. The bill came to RM35.90 and I was like "hmmm... I have veered very far from RM19.90"(as I usually do).

I took a seat and right opposite me was a table of two Japanese ladies and a child.

The black coffee was good. I love me a good cup of black coffee.

There were two live potted plant near my seat. I love these indoor plants.

Service was slow moving but not as slow as the first time. But I had time on my hands and it was all right. Besides the atmosphere here is a relaxing one.

Ah! There you go, my Baker's Club Burger. The ladies at the opposite table also ordered the same.

My (incorrect) first impression of this burger was that this is a fried chicken burger and not a beef burger (as I had expected). It was tall and loaded.

I was given a plastic glove to keep my hand clean but seeing how tall the burger was, I knew it was not possible to eat it the usual way.

As I took the burger apart, I realized that besides fried chicken, there was also a burger patty underneath. Nice! As I was eating, one of the Japanese ladies went to the counter to complain about "raw meat". The cashier then went to her table to collect the burger and later delivered a freshly prepared one.

I think the lady was not comfortable with the patty being still slightly pink in the middle. Mine was like that too but I don't mind (unless if it was red and bloody). Overcooked burger patties can be tough and dry but this one was moist and tasty.

I checked the menu (there was a copy at the table next to mine) and studied the Baker's Club Burger more closely. The price is RM35.90 and with the lunch set I got a complimentary coffee (worth RM11.00).

I'll say that it was totally worth it since the burger was protein loaded with very tasty fried chicken and beef patty. I loved the burger and I'm glad I found another place in DJ to have my (carb) meals.

After I left the cafe, I went for my usual mall walk.

  1. Dear friend, I bet you were absolutely thrilled with that burger! Beef and chicken! Whoa! When you said you took apart the burger, I would definitely have to do this because that burger is so big I don't know how anyone could take a bite out of it without taking it apart in some way! LOL! It does look very good, I must say!
And a relaxing ambiance makes all the difference, doesn't it? I cannot stand it when I go to a restaurant and the music is too loud (if they have any music on at all), or people are talking very loud or children are screaming. It just takes away from my whole experience! Well, it does mine, anyway. :)
I really like that pedestrian bridge!
As far as meat being a little pink, I don't mind, either. As you mentioned, though, if it is too undercooked and bloody, this is not good. As well, if meat is overdone it is kind of dry and like rubber, not very appetizing at all.
Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend.

    1. Happy Birthday, Linda! Yes, I loved the fully loaded delicious burger and will not hesitate to order it again. The relaxing ambiance is a plus point and a very suitable place for a weekend relaxation. But then again there may be too may diners and it may not be so relaxing LOL!

  2. I was cautious when I see the price stated as, "as low as..." Meaning not all are priced at RM19.90. Good that you enjoyed the "tall and huge burger" and the relaxing ambience which is necessary when we need calm and peaceful days like these. I would eat it the same way as you too, so that it would not get too messy. And contrary to you and Linda, I cannot accept blood in my meat and protein not even a little. If I spot them, I will cut that part off and not eat it.

  3. And I like the quote too, looking good does not always mean healthy, what you see on the surface is not the truth, like they say do not judge a book by its cover, have a great work week ahead for you and me! πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’• enjoy, God bless and count your blessings πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™
