Adoi. Kena Again.

Today I went out for a late lunch. There were not many choices of dishes left at my regular chap fan spot but I managed to gather enough food to eat.

Not as many varieties like my usual servings and this time no rice heh..heh... After I was done, I quickly checked out on MySejahtera and when I closed the app, I noted that there was a message.

Ah! Maybe they are calling me to go for booster jab, I thought.

Alamak! Kena again! The first time I kena I was quite upset. Mind you the one I got today is my third.

This was my second one, last month. Haiz......

Since my partner did not get this status, I reckon that I got it from Damansara Uptown and the most likely place is The Starling. I have to be more careful.

Christmas is coming, eh? But don't really feel the mood lah.

Then very soon, Chinese New Year. I also don't feel anything.

But from the looks of it, even with the emergence of new variants of the virus, many people are coming out in droves to the malls and shops.

I usually go out during off peak hours to avoid coming into close contact with people but sometimes it can't be helped.

Two weeks ago I revisited Li Wei to try their pork noodle. Sad to say it did not wow me.

The pork ball was hard and dry. The soup was not robust enough in flavors. Not having this again.

The I went back for the prawn noodle. The soup was so spicy that it made me cough. I actually almost choked >.< I'm afraid it was not what I had hoped. So it is best to stick with their rice and roasted meats as that seems to be their forte.

My recent home cooked dinners.

Very simple only - soup with meat and veggies.

Or I simply steam meat and veggies. Simple and yet tasty.

Well, I hope to cook something nicer soon.

  1. Prawn noodles spicy too? I went for one here, one time my favourite but the lady disappeared for a long long time, so happy to locate her but...it was spicy! It was not spicy before, so very nice. Worse thing was she said she added the chili to the soup while cooking it, cannot serve it non-spicy. I guess I shall not be going back for it again.

Possibly, somebody positive checked in at the mall...but he or she was at another end of the mall, nowhere near...and since you were there around that same time, you were a casual contact. I am still staying away from a lot of places here, just stick to the small shops near my house and not really going out to dine in here and there even though we do not have many cases anymore these days.

  2. Ya, my Penang friend also got casual close contact because she went to aeon supermarket in penang. Cannot be helped if want to resume normal life but just be extra careful. Your home cooked meals are just nice for me as I cannot eat very flavourful food. Even Very flavourful dry wanton noodles. Getting a booster is the most we can do so I guess everyone fully vaccinated are just trying to live their old lives by going to the malls. I just been to pavilion mall to catch up with a close friend after nearly two years but I don't think I will go Midvalley mall yet but I got myself into Xmas and cny mood by food and music! May you and your family enjoy this festive seasons too! Xmas, NY and cny!

  3. Ya, this casual contact thingy is so common nowadays that people are no longer upset or afraid of it (just like SOPs). I notice (from friends & family) that you increase your chances of getting it when you go to high people traffic places like wet markets, supermarkets, malls & food courts/cafeterias coz you're there for longer periods of time. That's why I still prefer to buy from small shops & individual eateries for now.

Ya, the pork noodles don't look so good but the prawn mee does (I see freshly fried shallots!). If the soup is very spicy for you, can't imagine what it'll be for us! >.< Ya, I agree, this pandemic has caused us to have no mood whatsoever for Xmas or CNY...haiz.

    1. I use the Starling as a shortcut to walk across when I need to run errands, so my chances of getting the casual contact status is quite high. Haiz...

  5. Same here, the malls is starting to get packed again. One great benefit now that I am self-employed is that I get to choose to mostly go buy stuff at non-peak hours. Folks doesn't seem to give a sh*t about Omicron or whatever.

Wei, that pork noodles soup looks legit leh. So it is just all looks and no substance huh. I'm going back to KL again this weekend, sending my old folks home after them staying here for more than a month. I hope the pork noodles stall I favor is still operating, hope to sneak a quick lunch there.

  6. Thanks for warning me. I will stay away from Starling Mall for a while. Uptown is definitely safe as I have been cruising around the restaurants.

    1. Outside around Uptown is quite OK though I heard (many months ago) that there have been many positive cases.

  7. These days, I dread to see any notifications or messages from MySejahtera. Plus I keep forgetting to check out after leaving the premises. I like prawn noodle with some spiciness but not that spicy that it makes me choke. That is too spicy liow.

    1. I sometimes forget to check out too hah..hah... Prawn noodles should not be too spicy unless if the customer requests for it.

  8. kena 'casual contact, no symptoms' is quite norm these days. The other day when i went into office, not that many people, only 10 person in that huge block and somehow one staff reported positive. The next day, my status also turned into 'casual contact, no symptoms'. And that was the first & only time i went into office on that month. Like kena lottery pulak~~~

  9. I will be very disappointed to see pork balls in my pork noodles because in my thought, pork noodles should come with fresh pork slices, minced pork or pork offals but not the processed food of pork balls.
