MCO 2.0 Day #6 & #7 : Tiramisu

Today as I ate my lunch which I prepped from home, I was feeling blahhhh.... I miss eating out. So soon, you say? Yeah. It's been only a week but I miss eating at the foodcourt and even eating at the chap fan shop.

Two weeks before the MCO, I made Tiramisu hoo..hoo... This one is made with raw egg yolks.

I used pasteurized eggs of course.

Separated the yolks from the whites.

Beat up whipping cream and the cream cheese etc etc. If you want the recipe and methodology, you can refer here. But this recipe is not the usual recipe used for traditional Tiramisu.

It was super nyum...nyum...nyum... Very rich, so cannot eat a lot (but I did).

If you are wondering what I did with the egg whites, fear not, I did not waste them. I simply used them in my soup.

So. Day #6 (Monday) I had to go out to run some errands. I passed by opposite Village Park.

I saw a whole fleet of Grabfood riders waiting outside. Not only that, the restaurant used a loudspeaker to announce the order numbers. LOL!

Well, if your business is super good, MCO or not, everything will still jalan come what may.

Elsewhere a few doors away, things were not so cheery.

When I got home, I filtered the bone broth that I boiled the day before. I managed to get 3 jars worth of broth.

Day #7 (Tuesday) I was super bored with my (own cooked) lunch. Not only that, I got sick of chicken. I have been eating too much chicken. Perhaps I should go look for salmon fillet and eat fish or prawns for a change.

Back home, I had soup for dinner. This is my dinner Monday to Thursday. Pork neck soup made with broth that I boiled much earlier (using chicken feet).

So good. I use this Korean claypot every time I have soup. Somehow my soups taste better when served in this pot hah..hah..hah....

I think tomorrow I am going to tapau chap fan.....

  1. I must say that your Tiramisu looks very beautiful and unusual from the sides. I wonder what is that round shapes inside the cake. You should open a shop and let me run for you!

My wife paid one Baking Chef to teach her how to bake exactly like the famous Suchan's Tiramsu. I think my wife's version is now improved because she added lots of Coffee Liquor and chopped caramelized almonds. My birthday is coming very soon!!!

What a coincidence that you want to tapao chap fan tomorrow. I also felt sick and geli lately for eating the MCO meals without dining in. I went to buy from this famous shop in Taman Megah many times over the months. You should go there since it is next to Uptown only nia.... I will post this shop in my blog in 10 minutes and dedicate to you. Muahahahaha

    1. Thank you! Thank you! Those round shapes are the biscuits soaked in coffee. I have made Tiramisu cake before but the photo is very ugly. LOL! Yes, ask your wife to bake the cake for your birthday and please show the photo.

I have been there before (https://phonghongbakes.blogspot.com/2018/10/what-we-eat-on-sundays.html) but stopped. Maybe should revisit after I saw the crispy pork belly in your post!!

  2. I'm not that into cakes but tiramisu is quite another story...I can't resist! ;) Your tiramisu looks legit with soaked ladyfingers inside...and this one looks even better than the previous one you posted. Oops, I see you do like to drink soups. When you say your soup tastes better in your Korean claypot, does that mean it retains heat better? I should get one since I drink a lot of soups. Where did you buy yours? Is that black pepper you cracked into your Chinese-style soup? Good that you used up the egg whites in your soup but no egg yolk, not so shiok-lah! ;D

    1. Oooh..thank you for the compliments hee..hee... The "taste better" is more of a psychological thing I think hah..hah... but yes, it retains heat very well. And yes, that's black pepper you see. I love lots of pepper in my soup.

I bought the pot via Lazada here : https://www.lazada.com.my/products/i1395532074-s4416930860.html?urlFlag=true&mp=1

The one you see in this post is a size 5. The small one like those served at restaurants is a size 3.

  3. Wow! You are so skillful at baking and cooking to even make your own tiramisu. Definitely you don't need to buy any cakes now because you can just make or bake your own cakes. I ended up eating snacks the whole day because want to clear them from my fridge.

  4. I love that you put lots of greens into your soup. Very nice. May those Delivery riders make enough for a living.

  7. your tiramisu is at another level, looks good and premium quality! You had the same soup for 4 consecutive days? no wonder bored with own cooking....But if can slim down, then OK lar...The chap fan stalls in my area here very 'laku'. I guess everyone is tightening down their budget and prefer to eat chap fan than ordering some 'fancy food' deliveries.

  11. Are you directly cook your soup in that pot?
I wonder the egg yolk is which part of tiramisu? First time seeing this method.

    1. No. I just reheat in the pot.

The egg yolk is part of the cream cheese filling.
