MCO 2.0 Day #1 : Eat What, Eh?

Today is day one of MCO 2.0. The feel is quite different from MCO 1.0 last year. This morning the roads were relatively busy, unlike before where it was near deserted.

When I reached my office, there were lots of cars and it did not feel like MCO at all. I guess that is because many businesses are allowed to operate subject to strict adherence to SOP

My day went by like normal. It was more quiet than usual (less phone calls, which was nice) and I could work peacefully with more focus.

Then it was time for lunch. Last weekend I only prepped two days worth of lunch, hoping to eat out for the rest of the week. Mana tau MCO was going to be imposed and no dine-in is allowed.

So. I went out to tapau chap fan. Along the way I observed that some restaurants were open and they either removed the tables and chairs or pushed them to the back. They also blocked the entrance with a row of chairs and tables to prevent customers from going inside. You have to place orders at the entrance.

This restaurant, Ipoh Kuey Teow Taugeh & Ayam, (not to be confused with this one) opened in December last year. I wanted to visit but thought to wait out the eager crowd and now I guess I have to wait a little longer.

I also passed by Village Park and saw many Grabfood riders crowing at the entrance. It looks like Village Park is super laku even during the MCO with many orders via delivery. I did not snap any photos since this is not the time to kepoh-kepoh.

But I couldn't resist taking photos of something that always melts my heart.

Kitty cats! I've seen this grey boy around and his tail looked like it had been chopped off. Poor fella.

This one looks like my Girl. But not as fat.

It did some stretching as I approached it.

This is Girl this morning. She woke me up at 2:00 am. Gah! Some more she climbed on my chest and expect me to sayang-sayang her.

Haiz! Mommy already said, wake mommy at 4:00am not 2:00am!

So what's lunch?

Stir fried sweet potato leaves, sweet & sour pork and stir fried mustard greens with oyster mushroom. No rice. I am too fat.

A little later I went to The Starling to pick up something for my partner at Jaya Grocer.

The mall was deathly quiet just like how it was last year.

Jaya Grocer was very peaceful and I could shop comfortably.

Dinner eat what?

Remember my fritters? I kept some in the freezer and they have come in very handy.

Just reheat in the air fryer at 180C for 8 minutes. Straight from the freezer and 8 minutes later they came out all hot and crispy.

Girl is wondering why Mommy came home early.

And this is Belle taking a snooze on her bed on top of the shoe rack. Photo was taken yesterday.

MCO 2.0 is not that bad lah. Let's see how tomorrow goes.

  5. Your chap fan looks real good. I would love to go to that Jaya Grocer, nobody!

Oh dear!!! One of my neighbourhood shops (and the mall down the corner) has been listed in the list of shops visited by some COVID-19 positive people. Even though my regular food and food shop and another grocery/Chinese medical store is in the next block and not in the list, I am not going to that area for at least two weeks. In fact, most of Sibu has been named in the list, this is such a small town - so I am not going out. Period!!!

  6. The street cats look domesticated...they even allow you to come so near. Usually they would run away when people approach unless they're used to humans. Girl is very smart to wake you up at 2am for extra cuddles (wow, you wake up at 4am?!). I see Belle has not fully recovered from her skin problems...her fur still looks off (frizzy look). When cats are unwell, they don't groom and their coat of fur will look unkept and is not shiny. If cats sleep more than usual (lethargic), that's also a cause for concern I was told (since most of the photos I see of Belle is when she's sleeping). Hope that's not the case.

    1. There are people in the neighborhood who feed them. Sometime I see containers filled with kibble at certain corners. Yup, I'm an early riser! The only time I can get proper photos of Belle is when she is sleepy. She is not in the best of health but much better than before. She likes to hang out next door after her makan. I will be taking her to the vet again.

  8. This mco 2.0 is no difference for me since I have been staying at home side oct 2020 and didn't go further than 10 km radius from my place. I thought all shops in shopping malls are allowed to open so y starling is deserted?

    1. Good that you are not taking any risk. Some shops close because they may not be under essential services.

    2. Now many retail shops not under essential services are also allowed to open if they apply for it as mentioned in this news article:

  9. I also feel that the situation is nothing much different due to many sectors are allowed to operate.
I Grab-ed Village Park Nasi Lemak once also last week. The rice given was quite small in portion, but the whole leg fried chicken was huge. :P

    1. I have yet to order anything from Village Park. Sometimes those delivery food, the portion could be smaller or even bigger. That's my experience lah.
