MCO 2.0 Day #16 : Oh! Bombolini!

If today were my last day in this world, I want two boxes of Bombolinis. Seriously. Forget Oreo. Forget topping laden frozen yogurt. Forget Korean Fried Chicken. I want BOMBOLINI!

It's too bad that Sean of Eat Drink KL has disabled the comment section of his blog or else I want to scold him for tempting me with all these sweet stuff and other delectables. His post today is about Hoppers (savory and sweet appam). Luckily those are in Sri Lanka or else I also want to order (though yes, I know, we have hoppers over here too).

So anyway, I shouldn't blame other people. After all writing about these irresistible and delicious fare is Sean's bread and butter. And he is so darn good at it too.

These three boxes arrived today. From Sugar And I via Airasiafood.

Happiness indeed!

A box of four Bombolinis (RM22.00) with fillings of Nutella, Lotus Biscoff, Raspberry and Niko Neko Matcha

I cannot resist. I am supposed to eat lunch first but this arrived earlier.

I dived first for the Raspberry.

Oh me God! The Bombolini is so soft and so fluffy! The filling was really nice - not too sweet at all (I expected a burst of SWEET. But no. Just nice) which was a pleasant surprise.

The next flavor I tried was the matcha and as you all know, I love green tea as a drink but not dessert. The matcha taste was quite strong and not my favorite.

The other two flavors are very nice, of course - Nutella and Lotus Biscoff. These are of course sweet and beyond the control of the bakers since they come out of a bottle.

Overall, really, these Bombolinis are da bomb! I will save them for my treat/cheat days.

The Cinnamon Rolls did not fare as well. I chose the plain ones (RM22.00 for four pieces - other variations are Nutella and Cream Cheese).

If they look dry, yes they were on the dryish side and were dense, not soft as I had envisioned. The best cinnamon rolls that I have eaten so far are from Cinnabon

I ate one and put the rest away. These I'm afraid won't be on my order list again. BUT... the Bombolinis....ah....that I can't wait to order again but not so soon.

Eh, what about lunch?

Yes, I did have a proper lunch. Desserts first then lunch hah...hah...

  1. I like that! "Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give." So what are you going to give me? Never mind, I'll let you have all the happiness - you give, I get! LOL!!!

What's that you had for lunch? Pork ribs? I'd skip those desserts for ribs, anytime. LOL!!!

  2. You know what, doughnuts are actually my favourite pastry but I try my utmost to resist them coz I know a lot of sugar goes into the making of them...and then they're further dusted with icing sugar on top...haiz! When I do find one that's not dusted with sugar, I'd probably eat just one but they're very difficult to find. Never mind, you can take sweet, so you enjoy-lah! ;) Yeah, those cinnamon rolls do look dry...and very big too since one box only fits two. P/S: I see you had Don by TSF again (Is that a new dish? Soy glazed chicken thigh?).

    1. It is good that you watch your sugar intake and you have the power to resist such treats. I actually don't mind eating donuts just plain with no fillings and no sugar sprinkles. They are already so good on their own. Yup, that was Don by TSF again. I had their special for the week - the chicken rice don. It's rice (plain) with sous vide chicken thigh. Not bad but nowhere as exciting as the chicken karaage don.

  5. Since u find the cinnamon buns not nice cos they are dry, I wonder what you would think of the sprouted wheat dough cinnamon buns by rainbows health food. I ate a mini pecan on from cinnabon in Feb 2019 and it was way too sweet and rich. Felt so unhealthy after eating it.
