Are You An Avocadian?

I know that I am as I LOVE avocado. But heck, they are so bloody expensive so I don't buy them often.

Before I tried avocado, I was a bit geli about it because I did not really know what to expect. My ex-landlady once told me that she had it on toast in Australia and she loved it. What? Avocado with toast? So weird. But now I know it isn't.

This little cafe, Avocadian at Damansara Uptown, opened last year but I visited only very recently. I don't know why I waited so long (kedekut punya pasal lah) to have an avocado milkshake.

In the past if anyone had told me about avocado milkshake, I would again, have thought it was weird. But not anymore after this happened.

This shop space is very small so it can be uncomfortable if more than 3 people are inside. When I was there, the sole table at the front was occupied by a couple.

If you can't take milk, you can request for soy milk, almond milk (at extra charge) or make it milk-free (I wonder what liquid they would use). For my first visit I had the AvoCoco, my favorite avocado milkshake with chocolate sauce.

While waiting for my order to be prepared, a lady walked in and enquired about their avocado puree. You can also buy avocado fruit from them as well. For more information you can read it here.

There you go, my avocado milkshake with chocolate sauce. Very nice and not too sweet at all. But I have a complaint. The milkshake is a bit too thin/runny and there is not enough chocolate sauce. For the price paid (RM16.90), they could be a bit more generous with the avocado and chocolate sauce.

The couple who were seating at the table were still enjoying their avocado milkshake before I left and the guy remarked that this is so much better than having a Starbucks milkshake.

I think I shall return and maybe try the AvoBanana next. It would be great if that one had chocolate sauce too heh..heh...

Oopppsss....

I did it again! hee..hee...

  1. I bought three for my girl that day, she loves them! So expensive I would not buy for myself. RM7.00 EACH!!! The lady at the shop said very black shade of brown, can eat already, don't buy the green ones. I took home, missus said not ripe...so now already a few days, still in the freezer...and there's no guarantee they are good - we would not know until we cut them.

Bought a tub of strawberries, over RM19.00 - she said bland, no taste of strawberries. So pissed off!!! Honestly, I'm a lot happier with my local bananas and papayas!

    1. If they are black shade of brown and soft to the touch, they would be ripe. That's a good idea to freeze them. I haven't tried doing that. I have more or less given up on strawberries except for the Korean ones.

  4. I love avocado too but don't buy often because of price. There is local one but I prefer the imported more.

  5. I guess I'm an avocadian too....since I've eaten it in many ways! ;) But not in a milkshake though...simply because I don't do milkshakes or smoothies. Hey, you've given me an idea...maybe I should write a post on the ways you can eat avocado...hah..hah! ;D Glad you enjoyed your expensive avocado milkshake.

  7. i'd choose this avocado shake over starbucks too, heheh ;) there really seem to be infinite avocado recipes, from avocado pastas and pizzas to avocado pound cakes and gelato ... though in the end, i guess avocado is so good that my favourite way to eat it is on its own! :)

    1. It looks like I have found a reliable avocado supplier! If I buy 3 avocados, it comes to RM7.00 per piece which could be cheaper than the supermarket.

  8. My wife is a die-hard fan as an Avocadian. She could drink Avocado milkshakes everyday in Indonesia as they serve this everywhere from hotels to street hawkers there. I am still learning to drink this flavour evn though I love Vanilla Milkshakes. I will try to bring her to this shop in Uptown.

  9. I like avacado but pricey, no doubt... Anyway, I still buy once awhile when they are nice ones. I tried the Cameron ones the other day and ended up throwing them away, 5rm for each... very bitter taste, maybe not ripe enough even though the skin is more wrinkled than my face. Better stick to the Australian ones which are around 6-10rm each. I tried avacado milkshake before, not here in Malaysia though.. it tasted so good, very thick coconut taste, I like it!

    1. hah..hah..your face where got wrinkled? I have tried the ones from Thailand but not so nice - not creamy. The Australian ones are the best.

  10. I love to eat avocado. I don't want to drink it because it is easy to gain weight from drinks, even healthy drinks like this. Don't know when I will be in uptown to check out this place. Ah, that cendol! I want! Where is it? I remember you wrote about it before so I need to search through your post. So long I didn't eat shaved ice dessert, since 18 March I think.

  13. I suspect some milk is added as the colour was a bit pale for avocado puree.
