No Water. So Eat What?

I was so angry as were everyone else in the Klang Valley who were affected by the unscheduled water cut which happened on Thursday.

I was at work when I received a message from Air Selangor on my phone. That's when I checked the office tap and yup, water pressure was very low. Crap!

That meant I couldn't do my laundry and I wondered how long this water cut would last. It was a good thing that I changed my mind about making kimchi over the weekend or else I would have been stuck with the ingredients. That would have been very frustrating. My plan to food prep was also scuppered. Grrr!!!!

The next day, Friday, I was at home and there was still no water. Worse, I read the news that it might take another four days for water supply to be restored. WHAT???!!! This is OUTRAGEOUS!!!

Since I couldn't cook (I had planned on making a chicken noodle salad), I had to eat whatever edibles that was in the house.

I had frozen bread in the freezer and hard boiled eggs in the fridge.

So it was an egg sandwich for lunch.

With a drizzling of smoky thousand island dressing.

I also ate an orange and a banana.

Got dessert some more hah..hah... This red bean tong sui was also in the freezer. See, I won't go hungry in the house.

Then for dinner, I decided to indulge in my current obsession - heong peah. Ordered via Lazada,

This used to be my late grandma's favorite biscuit. Somehow I was not that fond of it when I was a child.

But now I seem to love it.

Fortunately for me, water supply was restored yesterday evening (Saturday). I was at the office, rushing a deadline and being careful not to waste water in the toilet. I was very concerned that we might run out of water and that would be a disaster.

I had to eat. So I went to Pho Vietz@The Starling. Many restaurants and coffee shops outside the mall were closed.

I am glad to note that lately the drinks are not too sweet.

This is supposed to be braised chicken leg. But nope, it was a fried chicken leg covered with sauce. I'm afraid I did not like it.

That evening my partner and I had dinner together and when we got home, I heaved a sigh of relief when I found that my kitchen tap was flowing again.

So today, I cooked kimchi stew with pork belly and had an enjoyable lunch.

So if you would excuse me, I need to go organize my laundry.

  4. My area was in the list but yet we still got water, I wonder why but I am happy to have water of course. Good that your freezer is well stocked so you didn't go hungry. I see you got fruits at home too - banana and oranges - must be your partner punya, right?

  5. Luckily it was not all 4 days no water and you get to make your kimchi. I love to eat heong pneah too but I haven't tried this brand you ate.

  6. Very considerate of you to use the water in your office carefully. Yes, it would be so smelly in the office toilets if totally no water.

  7. Luckily my house area was not affected. But my colleagues, since there is no water got some of them balik kampung and even stay in hotel on the weekend.

Fortunately you keep many food supplies so you will not go hungry.

  8. Touch wood, we never have such disruption over here.

Heard many cases of water disruption in West Malaysia. Sure not fun.

  9. Consider yourself lucky that you had continuous flow of water after resumption. My sister-in-law's place had water and then it stopped a few hours after resumption. >.< P/S: Scary to hear of spike in new covid-19 cases (mostly in Sabah though).

    1. Yes, count my blessings! My office water supply came back today. Phew! The spike in new Covid-19 cases is significant and I hope it does not occur on our side here. Touch wood!
