Bacon Bowl

Lately I've been seeing photos of pretty Smoothie Bowls. They look so appetizing. A smoothie served in a bowl and topped with a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I am sure it's expensive when you eat that at a cafe.

But. Smoothie Bowls are high in carbs due to the natural sugars present in fruits and also some of the ingredients used to garnish the smoothie. I can't eat that for now. So. I needed a low carb protein bowl.

So why not bacon, eh? And perhaps a wee bit of my favorite carb - plain white rice.

First up, fry up some bacon. I used this slab.

I was much inspired by this cute glutton. She could be a Pokemon for all I care. I don't know how she can handle such a huge amount of bacon.

I didn't eat the whole lot of course. I saved some for later.

Yummmm.......bacon.......

That solitary egg was pretty much massacred. I have my bad egg days.

How about some sambal? I mean Chimichurri. I'm going through a Chimichurri phase. I eat everything with it.

That amount of bacon was very filling. I don't know how Yuka can down 1 kilo of it. She's awesome.

  3. Ah, I prefer a bacon bowl to a smoothie bowl! ;D Where to buy such a thick slab of bacon? The ones I've seen are already pre-sliced to thin pieces. I remember this lady...she's the one who ate the 100 ajitama eggs, right?

    1. I bought the bacon at the pork shop at Tesco. Also available at Cold Storage. Yes, that's the same lady who ate 100 eggs :D

  4. That bowl looks good.

Smoothie made from chai seeds are truly in vogue. I have not tried it yet but I will soon. When I lived in London, my breakfast bowl was made from veg including some raw cabbage or kale, fruit, spelt flakes or barley flakes (soaked overnight with flax seeds) and water. I used a stick blender to bliz it. It was a filling smoothie. A small yoghurt pot of this would cost £3 in the shop.

  12. The smoothie bowl sure doesn't sound healthy with the sugars, even though the sugars are natural from fruits. I would love to eat your bacon bowl if it is all lean meat.looks good.
