Belated Happy Birthday @ Marta's Kitchen

My brother celebrated his birthday last month.

So, apa lagi? Go makan!

This was his choice - Marta's Kitchen. It is an ideal location because it is convenient to drop off and pick up at the shop front, an important consideration when we take mum for an outing. Besides we love the food!

My brother dropped me and mum at the entrance while he went to park his car.

We were early, that is why the place was empty. So we could choose a nice spot to sit.

Our choice of beverage is very predictable. Mother and children are coffee addicts hah..hah..hah...

I had an ice Latte for the first time at Marta's Kitchen. Well, it was good but it could do with an extra shot of coffee.

We tend to stick to the tried and tested. Gambas Al Ajillo is a firm favorite, hence the double portions.

Prawns with loads of crispy garlic chips swimming in garlic infused olive oil. Nyums!

With bread to soak up all the flavorful goodness. Heavenly!

We also love the Patatas Bravas.

Half rack of their delicious BBQ Pork Ribs. Why only half rack? Well, because I wanted to try something different from their lunch menu - Beef Sandwich.

I was disappointed when it came like this with a portion of soggy fries.

To be fair, although the sandwich did not have an enticing appearance, the beef filling was pretty good - a generous portion with moist, juicy and fatty steak slices.

But flavor wise it was not to my liking. I did not like the sweet caramelized onions and I found Manchego cheese a bit strong for me. I loved the bread which was crusty outside while fluffy inside.

I scooped some of the oil from the Gambas Al Ajillo and drizzled onto the beef and sandwich bread. Ah! That was a major flavor improvement hee..hee...

But at least now I know what this sandwich tastes like. Never try never know. And this is why it is best (at times) to stick to the tried and tested that we enjoy.

One more! Squid Ink Paella.

This paella looked so plain but the flavor was da bomb! I had two or three spoons of the very flavorsome rice while the prawn went to the birthday boy.

That was a fabulous lunch and many thanks to Mummy for the special treat! Mum announced that she wants to go to Burnin Pit for her birthday and that is something to look forward to!

  1. Dear PH, I like the ambiance of this place. The turquoise colour is very soothing and inviting. I absolutely love ribs!
I love crusty bread! It is very difficult to find here in Montreal these days. I see the baguette, which I cannot stand, because it is thin and hard! But crusty bread is larger and usually crispy on the outside (the crust) and soft on the inside. I love it. And it makes delicious toast, too!

  4. So clever of you, by trying ways to make your beef sandwich more delicious and enjoyable though it maybe a disappointment πŸ˜‹ Overall this meal between you, your brother and your mom looked wonderful. Oh yes! Talking about parking, it can be a problem at times when our family choose to dine out with our extended family especially if the restaurant is in the city area and famous for its food.
