When I walked past Halla Holla on my usual food delivery errand, I noted their new breakfast promotion.
It is basically their Scrambled Egg Toast breakfast with four options - one slice, two slices, with avocado (Energy Boost Breakfast Set) and salmon (Protein Boost Breakfast Set) - with a choice of beverage. This promotion is from 8.00 am to 11.00am.
So one day I stepped in for a morning bite.
So I screenshot the menu so that I could enlarge it.
I can't smell butter, so I am guessing they did not cook the eggs with butter. Bah! But I still enjoyed my breakfast.
Back at The Starling I went to Jaya Grocer and noted that there is a health screening exercise organized by Skyzen. The word "free" always attracts attention.
It was a nice combo but I was disappointed that the portion of braised pork belly was miniscule. Too little to make it a decent Lu Rou Fan. Too bad the manager wasn't there or else I would have had a word with him.
I had three coffees that day - once at home, second time at Halla Holla and third time at Red Kettle.
So what happened? I was awake the whole night. Dang!
I am currently reading this book and as I was completing a chapter, I thought I was tired. But nope. My brain wouldn't shut down. Double dang!
No more triple coffees!

Dear friend, your photos are lovely. That book looks very good. I read non fiction only, and this is the type of book that it is.
ReplyDeleteI have seen TV true crime shows and I believe he was one of the people covered in a show I saw.
The lines of life is sadly true, referring to the illustration at the end of your post.
Your breakfast looks scrumptious.
Me too, I now prefer non-fiction only and I enjoy true crime stories. Recently I watched on Netflix the one on Moriah Wilson's senseless murder and I was very saddened.
DeleteOh, I have been having trouble sleeping the last couple of nights. I hope this passes.
ReplyDeleteI used to suffer from insomnia a while back and every now and then it happens. It's terrible not being able to fall asleep.
DeleteI thought it was the carbs that make you couldn't sleep when I read your post title. Turns out it was the 3 coffees...lol! I, too, cannot drink coffee at dinner time anymore (coz can't sleep either). Used to be able to drink 2-3 coffees a day (anytime) and have no trouble sleeping but as we age, things change...haiz! :'( P/S: Wow, your RM17.90 breakfast of avocado + egg with coffee is a steal!
ReplyDeletehah..hah... some people find that eating carbs help them sleep. Me too, when I was younger, especially at uni, I tried drinking coffee to stay awake as most people do (to study late at night) but it didn't work! I still got sleepy LOL! But surprisingly yesterday I had 3 coffees again and yet I could sleep. Coffee at home, then an ice latte at Halla Holla and an ice cappuccino at Red Kettle (which was fabulous!).
DeleteTht lu rou fan portion is too little for me. I can sleep well with carbs. I seldom take coffee, so sleep isn't an issue.
ReplyDeleteYup, the portion is way too small. I can eat two bowls LOL!
DeleteAh, so too much ☕ coffee keeps you awake too 🫩 cos cannot 😴
ReplyDeleteBut sometimes even though I drink more than my usual quota I can sleep. Yesterday I was a bit mad and had 3 coffees again but I managed to sleep!
DeleteLol !!! I misread your text, Mr Skeleton as My Skeleton, then your text that follows goes like, one day all of us will be reduced to this. Lol !!! 🤣😆
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteNothing is free in this world, even when your parents raise you up, they expect you to "repay" them back by being filial.
ReplyDeleteOh ya! hah..hah... I did not think of it like that until you mentioned!
DeleteLesson learned. Too much caffeine is no good.
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteEnjoy your weekends, 😺😊 🌺🌹 ☘️🌵
ReplyDeleteThank you, you too!
DeleteI have to disagree with the last quote. I received love and help from friends, family, extended family and even strangers/public before. Maybe because I did a bit of charity work before last time when I was young and energetic and whenever I can afford. Whether it is physical or monetary charity work. What goes round comes round, trust me. I pray and chant a lot also.
ReplyDeleteThat quote is a generalization and may not hold true in all situations. You are blessed to be surrounded by a loving community. It is true, good deeds that we do comes back to us!
