In Love With A Dirty Latte

I have heard of dirty latte. Dirty keto. Dirty fasting. Dirty whatever.

It basically means "not strict" or "not pure", you get the drift.

But before that, I had a well behaved first meal of the day.

Two scrambled eggs actually. Even though I specified "both eggs in one plate", the second egg arrived separately.

Then on my way back to DU, I looked at flowers.

Red was the theme of the day.

Later it was lunch at Red Kettle. Ah, red again, hah...hah...

Feeling adventurous, I tried the Pistachio Dirty Latte. It came in a tray with an instruction card.

Dirty Latte - Bold espresso gently poured over chilled milk, it said.

And this is how to enjoy it.

Ooohhhh..... indeed this drink is sublime ..... I was captivated! The aroma and taste of the espresso sipped with the chilled pistachio milk was a new experience for me. Loved it!

My only reservation is that the pistachio milk has added sugar, not too sweet but I would have preferred without. I found out that the pistachio milk is already prepared in advance with sugar added.

This is the Yee Sang.

Smoked salmon accompanied by a variety of vegetables and five spice crackers (the only item that tastes like yee sang).

If only they had served the Yee Sang with the proper Yee Sang dressing instead of their pomegranate house dressing, it would have been super. Overall a nice lunch and an amazing dirty latte experience.

  1. Oh, next time I should try a Dirty Latte if I see it on the menu...but the description of a balance of hot & cold (lukewarm, I presume) may not be ngam for me coz I like my drink either cold or hot, not in between. It's great that they do a yee sang for one (for solo diners like you). Lol...nly the crackers tasted like yee sang? But the ingredients I see mostly do belong in a yee sang (like salmon, carrot, sengkuang, pomelo, coriander, something pickled). The only ingredient that didn't belong was the quinoa (while the rest is hidden from view). Actually I wouldn't mind some other dressing coz the usual yee sang dressing is always very sweet.

    1. It's not lukewarm (unless if you stirred it) but you get the hot and cold hit at the same time. The pickled something in the yee sang was ginger. Somehow to me, it's the plum dressing that makes the yee sang hah...hah...

  2. Dear PH, the quote speaks truth. Love ❤️ all your photos. I had never seen scrambled eggs in that artistic style until I saw it in your posts. Very creative.

  3. I ate the red kettle Yee sang in 2024 but I can't remember the sauce. 😂
Can taste the pistachio taste in the pistachio milk?
