I Am A Food Addict

I still enjoy pastries from time to time even though I am largely on a meat based (carnivore/keto-carnivore) way of eating.

I am not 100% carnivore for sure because still I want to be able to eat carbs. This is me being realistic.

There are carnivores who gave up coffee and say that they felt so much better. Well, I did give up coffee for 28 days and no, I did not feel any advantage. So I still continue to enjoy coffee and make no apologies for it.

As for pastries, I can eat, enjoy and then not eat the delights again for many days or weeks because the addiction is under remission. BUT.

If I were to eat pastries or any carbs (bread especially) frequently (say, everyday) the addiction will come back (I experienced that unfortunately back in 2024). An addict is always an addict and is never cured.

I get my pastries at Halla Holla, Damansara Jaya. That day I had the Pistachio Diva and Egg Tart. Their pastries are made using sourdough. Not that it makes it healthier to eat. Carbohydrates are carbohydrates, no different.

The Pistachio Diva is puff pastry topped with a pistachio paste and filled with chocolate.

Look at the layers of pastry.

Generously filled with chocolate. Tasty!

The Egg Tart was also very good, creamy egg custard enclosed in a crunchy crust.

Well, until next time, that was a very enjoyable snack. Woohoo!!!

  1. I love your photos, dear friend! I have to say that I am not a huge pastry fan! However, I do love lemon meringue pie, lemon tarts and homemade apple pie.

  2. Halla Holla's pastries are the real thing because they use very good butter for their pastries. 👍 😋

  3. Hi dear PH, both Mun and Lotus asked me on my blog post today what I had at the Vietnamese restaurant that I shared photos of. I will mention it here for all of you, I hope you don't mind. I had 6 pieces of shrimp 🍤 on a stick..
each piece was on its own stick. I had steamed rice and a salad. The meal was delicious 😋

    2. Hi dear friend, thanks a lot! I only put it here because I wasn't sure that Lotus would see my response if I replied on my own blog, and because I noticed she hasn't commented on this post yet. :)

    3. Linda, great choices of food at the Viet Restaurant. A balanced meal too. Seafood, veggies and rice.

    5. Hi dear Lotus, I saw and responded to your comment, dear friend. (on my blog). What I did was rather than respond to it on my own blog, I responded to it here instead, because you had not yet commented on THiS post. LOL! Thanks so much, dear friend. I responded here so that you, Mun and PH could all see what I ate.

    1. The comment was meant for PH dear. Regarding craving for sweet food as I used to have a sweet tooth too but it is under control now. Craving, once you don't touch and eat them for a certain period, it will gradually go away. I once overheard aunties saying and discussing that coffee can cause cancer!!!??? And their expressions go like mouth opened and said HUH!!! How true is that? I don't know.

  5. When you first started on the carnivore diet, you were very strict I have to say...but now more relaxed to include carbs and veggies. Like any diet, it's always gung-ho in the beginning before it begins to wane...lol! And like you, I once gave up coffee too....and felt worse, so no more restricting myself...I'm a coffee addict (besides food addict) after all...wuahahahaha!

    1. Yes, because I had already achieved the benefits and I am more relaxed to reintroduce some carbs and veggies into my diet. But I still exercise caution not to overdo it and some food like processed foods (the delicious snacky stuff etc) have not made their way in. Ah, yes, good for you to continue to enjoy coffee. Bella the Steak and Buttergal who is a very strict carnivore also continues to drink coffee and that says a lot!
