The Rustic Grill, Damansara Utama

On one of my (almost) daily walks to Damansara Jaya, I saw that The Rustic Grill was open for business. Woohoo!

Why am I so excited? Because I am always on a lookout for grills where I can satisfy my carnivorous inclinations.

So on my way back, I dropped by to berkepoh-kepoh (to be a busybody) as I usually do at new openings.

Sorry, I love flowers.

And then I looked at the lunch menu.

Not terribly exciting but I suppose they start subtle on opening day. Last thing you want on the first day of business is a complicated menu and chaos. Betul tak? (right?)

So I told the nice lady who attended to me that I would be back later and I did,

There were already two tables taken when I stepped inside at almost 12.00pm. The space is small, cosy and tastefully decorated.

I found out the dinner menu is more comprehensive and very much to my liking.

Let me enlarge that for you.

Seafood and a vegan meal.

This is the Tapas station. It's free flow buffet style for the Tapas, something to look forward to.

Ah! Meat Lover, that is me! Lamb and beef, those would be my pick.

More meat and a Lobster Thermidor, pricey stuff but if it is good, I don't mind spending. Like I said, (almost) all my money goes into my mouth - no designer handbags, shoes, clothes, idyllic holidays to the Bahamas and what not. Makan is my main thing.

As for the drinks section, bah! No coffee. No affordable water. I still remember my first Aqua Panna at El Cerdo.

Now for my choice of meal.

Set Lunch 1 because I don't fancy fish (especially with cream sauce) and pasta is a no no. So I asked what was the "Grill of the Day" and it turned out to be chicken. At RM20, I cannot expect beef or lamb. So.

The Ice Lemon Tea was nice, not too sweet. This is usually my default order when there is no coffee or (affordable/complimentary) water.

I always choose salad over soup. This was a very well dressed salad. Loved the vinaigrette dressing.

This is the grilled chicken chop. Underneath the chicken were slices of pan fried potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, carrot and cherry tomatoes.

Overall, a very affordable meal, though not quite what I was expecting (ie steak and lamb) but I shall return for dinner one day. Dinner service starts 4.00pm which is perfect for me.

I was glad that this was an enjoyable low carb meal.

    1. It was a good salad. I am not too partial to soups especially western style soups with cream in it.

  4. I was squinting my eyes to look at the menu....and then you read my thought! :D When you perused the set lunch menu and found it not terribly exciting (and would be back later) though I thought RM20 set lunch was a very reasonable price for a starter, grill or the day & drink, I wasn't expecting you to order the set lunch when you returned...lol! Waiting for you to try their dinner menu to see what their a la carte dishes look like. ^_~

  6. I would like to try their lamb shank. I hope they would not just serve set lunch during lunch time but also serve the dishes and tapas on their main menu during lunch time.
