Rawrrr.... Carnivore!

I love salads and of course they have to be accompanied by some sort of protein to fill me up. If I do not eat enough protein with my greens, I get hungry really fast.

Much as I love my proteins, if you ask me to eat JUST proteins, I would find it quite difficult. Very recently I came across what is known as the Carnivore Diet. It's not something new, but new to me as I was unaware of such a thing - a diet of just meat.

It piqued my interest when I listened to Joe Rogan's podcast clip on Youtube (or click here for a longer interview).

I was rather intrigued by the story of Mikhaila Peterson who gave an account of her medical condition on a TEDx talk and how going on a diet of only meat helped her.

Although it sounds quite extreme and bizarre, we should not dismiss it as crazy or whatever because there are people who seemed to benefit from this way of eating.

And just because these people thrive on it, it does not mean that we would experience the same results.

We are all different genetically and physiologically, so what works for the goose may not be so for the gander.

Well, you know me. I am always curious when it comes to diet and nutrition. And please, not diet to lose weight and all that crap because I don't (do that kind of) diet anymore. In fact I have thrown out those ideas that we must be of a certain weight and shape to be considered "gorgeous" or whatever. Nobody is going to impose that kind of standards on me. No more!

So. The curious me wanted to experience the carnivore diet just for one day.

I love my steaks! But without the baked potatoes, sauteed mushrooms and other accompaniments, it tasted so one dimensional. And in the absence of veggies and accompaniments to make up the volume, you gotta eat more steak. But it sure keeps you very full.

I prefer this.

I bought ready washed salad greens and for the protein, I got them from Bok Bok Korean Fried Chicken (utilizing my renewed GrabUnlimited discounts)

My favorite flavor is the Soy Garlic.

And for variety, I also got the Original.

And let me introduce to you Kewpie's latest salad dressing - Black Vinegar Onion.

Oh my! I love it!

This salad dressing is definitely my new favorite - tangy, sweet, salty and onion-ny.

Last night's dinner.

Roasted duck and vegetable soup.

Of course I had to share some of the roasted duck meat with the tax officer who knows exactly when to stroll into the dining room.

My two fatty bom boms love to hangout at the top of the stairs.

Never say never. Who knows I might be crazy enough to try the carnivore diet. Just for the experience and in the name of science.

  3. This Carnivore diet sounds a bit like Atkins diet that was popular in the 2000s. This Atkins low-carb, high protein & fat diet (herein lies the controversy of too much meat) does work (from my own experience) but at least this one allows one to eat fruits & veggies but in the end too much meat isn't healthy for us (the norm). That's why this Carnivore diet isn't something I would embrace coz 1) I dislike eating too much meat (I can only eat a small amount at one sitting), 2) it's too costly to just buy meat (to keep me full) and 3) it isn't healthy to just eat meat only! Anyway, all diets work as long as you continue with it coz once you stop, you tend to gain back the pounds. >_<

The black vinegar onion sounds like a dressing I would like too. The words tangy, sweet, oniony I approve but when you say salty...wait a minute....that's the reason why I disliked the sesame soy sauce in the first place and started to dislike the roasted sesame too when it became a bit too salty for me (now I know why my son likes roasted sesame). Is this black vinegar onion as salty as those two?

I'm always amazed at how well-rounded your two girls are. What do you feed them with? Lol. P/S: Is it that time of the year already...when the tax collector rolls in? :D :D :D

    1. I agree with you! When I eat too much meat, I feel jelak especially fatty meat. It is best to have some veggies on the side and maybe (if one is controlling carbs) a little bit of rice or potatoes. I find that (for me) too much restriction of carbs has a side effect - when I add back too much carbs or eat it too often, the weight comes back with a vengeance. So some months ago, I did a reset and I ate as much carbs as often as I liked LOL! Of course I put on weight lah. Now I vary the amount of carbs I eat - some days I skip, some days I eat less and at least once a week I eat a lot!

Don't worry - the salty is not too salty, it is just right. By the way, I noted that the sesame soy sauce is not as salty as it used to be. Maybe they got feedback from customers and dialed down the salt. I have gone through two bottles already after abandoning this flavor for a long time.

My fatty bom boms eat 3/4 to 1 can each at each meal (two meals a day). The vet told me that spayed cats have lower metabolic rate and tend to put on weight. The fact that they are females maybe contribute to that too, we girls tend to put on weight easily. Haiz! LOL! Oh ya, it is income tax season. Ugh! >.<
