MCO 2.0 Day #19 : This K-Bento Is Not Bad

It was Sunday and I was wondering, what shall I eat? hah..hah... I reckon it is best to just order something from nearby (1 Utama) and also utilize the Grabfood EXTRAHUAT promo code.

I was still in the mood for Korean food and I found KFry Urban Korean among the list of restaurants that are under the EXTRAHUAT list. I scrolled through the menu and I thought the Ultimate Bulgogi Chicken Dosirak looked quite good.

Then I got greedy and added the Spicy Yangnyeom Soonsal Chicken.

Dosirak is basically lunch box, the equivalent of the Japanese Bento. The tagline of "9 Korean Dishes in One Lunchbox" sounded interesting.

The boxes come cling wrapped for safety.

The Spicy Yangnyeom Soonsal Chicken looked magnificent, all saucy and fiery red. I thought it tasted quite nice and for a person who loves sauce, I thought there was too much sauce. It is a little bit spicy hot but tolerable for me.

Just this chicken alone, I would be very full already. So can split this into two meals.

The dosirak comes with rice, two pieces of pajeon (pancake), a generous serving of chicken bulgogi, a piece of omelette, a piece of spicy fried chicken (exactly like the extra order), glass noodles, two tuna rice balls, fish cake (rolled up like a rose), potato salad and kimchi (which was rolled up and looked so cute). There was also a box of cut fruits.

This is obviously too much food for one person and had to be split into two meals. The dosirak alone is already a lot. So next time, don't be so greedy!

It was a nice meal (or meals) and I won't mind ordering again.

Oh, there is a side story to the food order. My order was delivered by a very polite and cheerful young man. As soon as he passed the food to me, when he turned around to get his bike, his bike toppled over.

Food packages and a drink spilled out from his food bag. He was stunned and I was shocked too.

I felt so so very sorry for the poor boy. I expressed my sympathy and he told me it is OK. Gosh. I guess he had to cancel the next customers' order as it was ruined. I had that happen to me once and wondered why the cancellation when I had already received a message that my food was on the way. Now I know.

    1. I am wondering too. I hope that Grabfood has a provision to cover such expenses. It would be unfair for the rider to pay something accidental.

  5. Oh no! Poor guy,I think he would be penalised for spilling the food. Wow! If u think the sauce is too much then I wouldn't like it. But then if it is too spicy then I cannot tahan la. Mco is now till 18 feb 2021 so still no crossing state borders.

  7. When you mentioned "just this chicken alone, I'd be very full already", I was thinking that can't be your standard (6-7 pcs of chicken bites only?)...lol. I only realised that the statement referred to the pic below (and not the one above)...haha, that's more like our girl.

Oh dear, poor guy, I hope he doesn't have to pay for the spilled food. Now that you 'shared the story', I guess we should be more forgiving next time our riders don't show up with our meals. Luckily, I've not encountered that thus far. Come to think of it, they could have even met with a minor accident and fallen off their bike.

    1. hah..hah...hah... even for my standard, I could not eat all in one sitting. I underestimated the dosirak - a little bit of everything adds up to a lot!

I hope he did not have to pay for the accident. Poor guy. Yes, we ought to be more forgiving and give the riders the benefit of the doubt if they are late or cancelled our order.

  8. Wow! The bento is big and delicious. I could eat the whole box full of Spicy Yangnyeom Soonsal Chicken alone! Hahaha I find that Thai and Korean food are always delicious with strong spicy tastes. I like.

Poor delivery guy! I hope you tipped him big. I normally tipped them RM5 to 10!!! I appreciated their service which saved my petrol & time.

    1. My ex-boyfriend (ahem ahem, I already said ex, lol) used to be a food delivery guy, the Pizza he delivered flew off far far away from his bike and he has to stop his bike and go picked up the Pizza.

TM is so generous! Usually I will tip them S$1 or S$2.

    2. TM : I also give tips usually RM4-RM6 depending on how far is the delivery. If they have to pick up non-halal food or during public holiday, I tend to tip more.

    3. Libby : Oh my! Your poor ex. I think delivery people have lots of stories to tell of their experience.
