Happy Chinese New Year 2021!

Keong Hee Huat Chye! Sorry for my long silence. Busy lah. I heard from the grapevine that there were people fighting over my cookies last year.

I was so flattered and as they say, flattery get you everywhere. So. I baked.

I decided to invert the chocolate chips because those pointy bits tend to get smushed when packed. In our hot weather, chocolate chips get all melty.

These were inspired by my campak-campak 2020 Cookies. I will share the recipe later.

These cranberry ones are a firm favorite.

It is back breaking work. From morning till evening.

That's why I don't sell cookies.

It's best to keep it as a hobby and the cookie baking marathon a once a year endeavor.

I was really pooped at the end of it.

I managed to fill up 8 canisters.

I will be baking some more. If my brother is reading this, yes, your share will come later heh..heh....

Meanwhile in another part of the world, my auntie was making kuih kapit.

She and a cousin of mine made these over the charcoal stove. So rajin

It takes some dexterity to remove the hot kuih kapit from the mold and then fold it before it hardens.

My auntie made some more over the gas stove.

My Chinese New Year eve dinner was decidedly uninspiring.

My partner was away at a small family do nearby. I chose to stay safe at home.

This is my dining table today. So blah.

And my breakfast. Also blah.

So Girl, how is this year's Chinese New Year compared to last year?

That look says it all - boring lah, Ma.... Kong-Kong and Mah-Mah not here, not lau juak

Don't worry Girl, hopefully next year's Chinese New Year will be different.

Before I go munch on some cookies, let me wish all my friends and readers who are celebrating, a very Happy and Healthy and Safe Chinese New Year! We can talk about wealth and prosperity next year (hopefully).

  1. I would love some very lemak kueh kapit - we call them kueh sepit here. Personally I prefer these traditional kuihs anytime, none of those trendy ones for me, thank you very much!!!

  10. You cookies are arranged so nicely and neatly in the canister, mine just simply put, LOL
Kuih Kapit making is definitely time and labour consuming that I would never do! Imagine one piece of Kuih Kapit maybe need 2-3 minutes to make but eating it just need 2-3 seconds. =.="
