A Lazy Sunday

This was the previous Sunday, not today Sunday. I was hungry and I was not in the mood to cook. In fact I did not even do any food prep except for my easy overnight oats.

So. What else. Just take my phone and press here and press there.

I settled for Japanese again. This time the Buta Sutamina Set and one side order, the Age Gyoza. The box that the meal is packed is very pretty but not so practical for the rider.

The poor boy had to hand carry it while riding his bike. Luckily Robataya Izakaya @ 1 Utama is very near my home. The previous order was delivered by a Grabcar uncle.

Very nice packing instead of all the items being put inside a plastic bag.

There you go, my luxurious lunch. Yes, too much plastic. I made sure to wash afterwards and put into a bag together with all other plastics.

The Buta Sutamina was superb! Very delicious and arrived piping hot.

The Age Gyoza was also very good.

But this Sunday (today), I was very industrious. Well, not really also lah because I still Grabfood one roast chicken from Ayamas heh...heh....

This is the Golden Prosperity Roaster. The taste is not bad but not great. Pity that the chicken was dry. Madam, you should be roasting your own chicken.

It came with a chili sauce, something akin to chicken rice chili sauce, but not quite. Like the chicken, it was not bad but not that good either. The only positive thing is that it was securely packed, did not leak and the plastic bag was neat and clean.

So I made a dressing out of this sauce. I just mix it with some rice vinegar, kicap manis, Maggi chili sauce and garlic powder. It turned out pretty good.

I made myself a nice rice bowl for lunch. When serving I just drizzled the dressing over the ingredients. I also did some food prep for my next week's lunch and dinner, pretty much like this bowl except packed in containers.

This one is for dinner, it has air fried Saba fish and roasted tofu in place of chicken.

So that's me eating healthier again on a not-so-lazy-Sunday.

  1. Oh? But the chicken looks so good. I prefer ordering chicken parts though, not whole chicken...and I would always ask for the drumsticks.

    1. Buying the parts like say, the hind quarter is more expensive. Anyway, won't be buying again after this experience.

  2. I used to buy Ayamas often since the 90s. I must say that their recipe and marinating changed over the years. I better not leave my comments on the smell. LOL Recently they are selling their own Shortbread in boxes that copied 99% of the famous Walkers Brand Shortbreads from Scotland. They get 5/10 stars from me.

I went to eat my Chap Goh Meh at Robataya 1-U and made sure I reached before 6pm. The queue was like a mile while I was enjoying our slow dinner. Yums!

  3. Ah, poor rider need to balance the box while riding his bike. Lucky that it is near.
I haven't ordered japanese bento delivery yet. I don't like the plastic packaging of ayamas. Your food prep looks delicious! Well balanced food and delicious too!

  4. the packaging for Robataya looks good like a gift box...but too many plastics for that...even the paper box & ribbon gotta recycled. I prefer a dine-in coz i dislike the vapor on the packaging lid/cover when the food reached me. The Ayamas chicken is not consistent, sometimes dry sometimes OK. I prefer the percik flavour. The chili sauce seems to be different nowadays and has less kick.

  5. Yeah, the packaging of your Japanese meal is rather strange. That box looks more suitable for cakes or pastries. They should use some kind of plastic-type bento box where each component can go into a separate space rather than so many individual plastic boxes. Perhaps they were trying to make it look premium/luxurious to justify the price...lol. I've never ordered Ayamas roast chicken...I'd rather eat my own roast chicken...hah..hah (your own roast chicken will taste even better than mine!). I'd prefer the rice bowl you made anytime. ^_~

    1. I agree that they should use the plastic bento box. Much neater and avoid so many plastic containers. That box cost RM3+ >.< Don't bother with Ayamas roast chicken. Your own roast chicken I guarantee is loads better hee..hee..

  6. I also ordered Grab food during the weekend, too lazy to move to the kitchen! Ordered a bento set, after discount it is only RM20, cheaper than dining in the restaurant. I also ordered one chicken but a salted one, not roasted like yours.. :) again, cheaper than going to the shop to buy, cos Grab has this promotion code Signatures.. that is why it is cheaper gua... hahaha..

    1. Yes, pretty box, more suitable for customer's self take away. But for delivery, better keep simple. I had to pay RM3+ for the box :(

    1. I feel the same way. I wash the containers and gather them all in one garbage bag for disposal.

  9. Regret to hear that the chicken was dry, luckily the Buta Sutamina and age gyoza were good. The box looks like a cake box.
