Naughty Babe Dirty Duck, Desa Sri Hartamas

Naughty Babe Dirty Duck. It sounds salacious does it not? hee..hee.. I have heard of this place, was curious, and had my curiosity satisfied when my brother brought it up.

So in keeping with our mission for 2020, that is to explore more eateries, we started off with this one.

Parking in the Desa Sri Hartamas area (as with most areas) is quite a pain. Very congested with narrow roads and limited parking space. But we got lucky and parked somewhere behind the restaurant.

As usual, we eat early and the place was empty save for a gentleman enjoying his drink. I suppose a place like this is more popular when the sun sets, when all the happening people flock here for some minum-minum and makan-makan.

Us? Ah. Our strongest drinks for the day.

No need to ask. Yawn.

We already surveyed the menu online and after another look onsite, we decided on these.

Our appetizer, Tiger Prawn & Serrano Ham. Eh, odd number, how to share? heh..heh...

It was made up of a thin layer of toast topped with grilled red capsicum and prawn wrapped in Serrano Ham. Very nice. Oh, I got the odd numbered one. Thanks to my brother's generosity hee....hee....

For mains, it was a Dirty Duck Linguine to share. Quite good.

We weren't too sure how big is the portion size and besides, I was not that hungry after a heavy lunch and dinner the day before. Hence the sharing (I let my brother have the lion's share).

Of course we could not miss the NDBB BBQ Pork Ribs (half slab). It was served with a Tomato Salsa and another condiment simply known as Hot Stuff. This Hot Stuff reminded my brother of the rempah slathered on fried ikan keli hee...hee.... Yes, it was rather hot.

I thought there was a bit of porky smell and honestly I preferred the ribs at Marta's Kitchen.

To finish off our lunch, we had to have desserts.

I'm afraid I did not like the Tiramisu. The sponge fingers were too wet and the filling had a strong cheesy smell. I have not had this issue with Tiramisu that I have eaten elsewhere (the cheesy smell, I mean).

But the Creme Brulee, I loved. I was so carried way, I ate my brother's half of the strawberry. Sorry...

We are not discouraged by the pork ribs or Tiramisu as there are other options that we could explore on our next visit. Perhaps with our parents when they visit for the Chinese New Year.

  1. you tried both the pig and the duck, so that's a solid introduction to this place! :D

  2. I'd go straight for the ribs and the desserts. The iced coffee looks...yucks! Quite typical of the ones at such ang moh coffee places with the price tag to match!

  5. Actually I got an invite to review this place some time back but I didn't take up the offer of course...in keeping with my blog principles. I'm glad I didn't (not that I would accept an invited review anyway) now that you mentioned the porky smell of the ribs and the unsuccessful tiramisu (the plating reminds me of the one from Ra-Ft!). The food doesn't look all that remarkable apart from the appetiser (money better spent elsewhere I think). :'( P/S: Oh, I didn't know that you and your brother are on a mission in 2020...I'm looking forward to you exploring more eateries...away from Uptown, haha! :D

    1. Ah yes, that is my principle too, not that I have ever been invited heh..heh... I don't know if my brother and I can follow through with our mission as we tend to prefer places closer to us!

    2. Eh, I'm quite surprised that you have never gotten any invites based on your good pageview stats (mine is not even half of yours!). I got my first invite about a year into food blogging I think...and some were rather difficult to say no to but I resisted just the same (heheh). And then there were some who would even invite me back for free food & drinks (after reading and thanking me for the review on them) though I never took up any of those offers either. There was even one who offered me a fixed discount whenever I dined there. I took that up only once (when the boss happened to be around) and quietly let it slip when their staff forgot about the discount. I guess I don't feel nice eating for free (or even at a discount) as I feel compelled to not write anything negative about the food because of their hospitality (and I'm one who likes to write honestly of what the dining experience meant to me according to my taste buds, of course).

    3. My dear, your reviews are so well written, with flair and that is something that I don't have. Which explains why you get invites and I don't hee..hee... Generally speaking I tend to avoid relying or reading those invited reviews because I am skeptical if the views are honest. Especially those reviews where you see a few bloggers writing about the same place. It's hard to give an unfavorable opinion when you are given free food >.<

  8. After reading your review, I would just try the appetizer that you ordered and the duck linguine but I almost never eat at that area unless my work lunch friends go there to do some errands so I don't think I will get to try out this place.

  10. I've been here once many years ago and what I remember was the food portion was really small for the price charged.

    1. This type of places can be pricey. So can go only once in a while.

  11. Have you ever ordered a cocktail that comes with a song? We did one time and got a trio serenading us. It was fun!
