Coffee and Cakes, Anyone?

After having had a session of coffee and cake on my birthday, I thought it might be a nice thing to do once a week. Hah!

I have been eyeing this particular cafe for quite some time.

Madeleine cafe, located inside a bookstore.

So one Friday, I walked inside to have a look see.

From 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, you can have coffee/tea and a slice of cake for RM15.90.

Ooo! I can't resist cakes!

They have cookies too.

Why not, eh?

Very nice cake. But the coffee is not as good as the one at The Good Batch.

I am a creature of habit. So I returned the following week heh...heh....

Another delightful chocolate cake.

Oh no, the saucer was chipped.

The week after that I spotted this Durian Mille Crepe. Try saying no to this.

Resistance is futile! Unfortunately they ran out of coffee and waiting time was 10 minutes. So I settled for tea.

I'm afraid the Durian Mille Crepe was not as good as I had hoped. The durian flavor was muted and the whipped cream filling was rather thin and not sweet enough. I don't like sweet things and when I say something is not sweet enough, it is not sweet enough.

Just in case you were wondering, the durian decoration is made of buttercream, something I am not a fan of.

On my latest visit, I tried the Carrot Cake. It was not to my liking. A little dry and lacking in flavor.

I could not resist the Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie. It's best that I bake my own.

I reckon, chocolate cakes are the safest bet for me at Madeleine. Or perhaps I should try the cheesecakes next.

  2. Oh dear! Carrot cake not good, durian crepe not good, plate was chipped...and of course, your own choc chip cookie would be nicer. Same here, I keep telling people that I had some nice popiah in Kuching but no, they were not as nice as my own! Hehehehehe!!! We went to a classy and expensive nyonya restaurant in Penang and we criticised everything from top to bottom until one of the cousins said perhaps it would be best we all cooked ourselves and ate at home. LOL!!!

    1. hee..hee... you and I, blowing our own trumpets! It is true that at some places, the cooking/baking may not be as good as what we do at home.

  3. Cakes and cakes for me anytime! Too bad I can't be there at 3 pm to 5 pm or else I would have a cake and coffee too since it is such a good offer!

  4. Thank God I am not so crazy about cakes. Can do without it. But I dont much such rare indulgence once in a while. As long as the cake is not overly sweet. Hehe. I am not much of a sweet tooth person.

    1. Me too so not like cakes/cookies that are too sweet. But they must be sweet enough or else, not nice to eat.

  5. Your giant chocolate chip cookie definitely looks better than the one here. Not a fan of cakes...and that mille crepe is interspersed with way too thick layers of whipped cream filling (but you find that insufficient, not sweet enough and too thin for you)...I see you really like creamy things then! :O

    1. Why, thank you hee..hee... The whipped cream although looks thick, but it was actually quite watered down. Could hardly taste it.

  6. The layers of the mille crepe are very thick, i would think the chocolate cake would be the safest choice here.

  7. Rich cakes make me drool and makes me heavy too! Can only eat moderately and not too often.
