No Udon For Me

Update : Udon Kobo Min Min has closed down.

The last time I visited Udon Kobo Min Min was back in 2016 and I never returned. Not that the food wasn't good, just that the taste was not to my liking.

But after reading Mun's post, I had to return since the menu appeared to have been revamped. So that was my date nite venue on a rainy Friday.

The place had undergone a facelift and has a brighter and more spacious feel to it, though the space is still small. After studying the menu, I chose the Yakiniku Don (regular) while my partner chose the Tonkatsu Set (chicken).

For drinks, the usual. Green tea, hot for him and cold for me.

My partner complained that his cup was not filled to the brim.

My Yakiniku Don arrived first. I thought it was pretty good. The soup that came with it is the same broth used to serve the udon. It has a strong flavor of seaweed.

My partner's Tonkatsu Set took a while to be served. It looks all right. A small bowl of udon, deep fried chicken, a bowl of salad, two pieces of tamago and some sauce.

Looks like laksa, was my partner's remark hee..hee...

I did not try the chicken but I had one piece of the tamago. Too sweet, I did not like it.

I tried a bit of the salad and I liked the sesame dressing.

We also ordered the Chicken Karaage to share. This got the thumbs up from my partner. I liked it too.

It looks like there will be revisits in the future.

    1. It's more about the broth I think. Ramen broth tastes better to me.

  4. Cup not filled to the brim? No problem, just ask for refill...haha! ;D It's refillable, right? I've not had green tea so far that is not refillable. Hey, did your partner steal a piece of the pork cutlet before the pic was taken? Coz it doesn't look complete...one of the side piece is missing! ;)

  5. Everything looks very delicious and good but photos can be deceiving, I know.
I can understand that our local udon is always not to my liking too until I tasted them all in Japan. It is different there and the same goes to Cold Soba which the Japanese Chefs made me fell in love with that cold dish.

I wonder what is delaying you from visiting Japan till now?? Go lah with your dahling to see Autumn foliage! Nice to hug hug & kiss kiss under cool weather. We only live once and tomorrow may not come.

  11. Yay! I’ve met the owner of this place, and she’s quite a passionate person, so she’d be pleased to know her place has offered some hits for you to return for :)

    1. Yes, but I got reports that they don't accept cards for below RM50 and that means I will only visit with my partner.
