Who Said This Is The Best Fish & Chips?

This outing happened last year and yes, it was our Friday date night. We ran out of new places to go (my darling's preference and taste was the limiting factor) and I suddenly remembered Fish & Co.@1-Utama.

It has been a long time since we stepped foot here and I was happy to revisit.

Browsing through the menu (which I believe has been revamped since the last time we were here) I noted that they serve more than just fish and chips. Obviously fish and chips was what we had in mind but wow, so many types of fish and chips to choose from.

My partner chose The Best Fish & Chips in Town while I, being attracted by the smokey Peri Peri sauce, opted for the Afrika Fish & Chips. Then he asked the server, "Are you sure this is the best fish & chips?". The poor girl could only manage a giggle.

For drinks, we had the Lychee Mojito (for him) and a Citrus Granate.

I liked my drink very much. It was very refreshing and I couldn't stop taking sips. My partner's Lychee Mojito was also very nice and I stole a few sips.

And then our food came, served in pans.

My partner's The Best Fish & Chips in Town. Was it the best? He scrunched up his face and shook his head in slow mo indicating the negative. And for the umpteenth time I heard "Wait till I bring you to England to eat the fish & chips".

When? When?? hee...hee...hee... Well, apparently The Best Fish & Chips in Town can't hold a candle to the fish & chips in England. Well, they did say the best "in town" and not "in the world".

I on the other hand (haven't been exposed to the one in England) thought that my Afrika Fish & Chips was quite decent. Judging from the prices here, I think they use dory fish (which my partner frowns upon). To him, cod is the best for fish & chips but that would cost a bomb.

And on that note, I don't think he will take me here again. But I will return solo or with my brother. Or hey, with my parents when they visit!

  1. Fish & Co? Been years and years since I had anything there - used to love it those days before Manhattan.

  2. I agree with your partner. Up till now, none of the fish and chips are comparable to those I ate in UK. Cor Blimey is the closest but still not as good as those I ate in UK. Now that Cor Blimey is in Uptown, you can go there with your partner. They have cod on the menu. Cor Blimey opening hours from their website are:

    Mondays are closed.
5:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Tuesday - Thursday). Kitchen closes at 9.30 pm
    12:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Friday - Sunday). Kitchen closes at 9.30pm

I think your partner would be happy if you bring him there. It is the closest though still not as good but no need to fly all the way to UK.

  3. I think their fish & chips is still worthy based on the price and portion (for me, it's at least still better than MFM). Not all are dory (and not all dory are bad), they also have pollock, salmon, seabass, swordfish. Of course if you want cod, halibut, barramundi, haddock or what-not (which I've had before at Magnificent Fish & Chips), it's a different price point, of course. I remember TheYumList mentioning that the fish & chips at Botanica is good :)

  6. Seems like something so simple but it's surprisingly difficult to get great fish and chips in KL.
