Steaky Saturday

Saturday was Hari Raya and it was woohoo!!

But it did not mean that I was plonked on the couch and binge watched Netflix the whole day. Oh no. How I wish!

Laundry. Vacuum and mop the floor. Dusting tabletops. And of course feeding and cleaning up after my girls.

Early lunch. Why not? Salmon fillet, kimchi and sauerkraut.

It's been a while since I cooked a steak. This was (early) dinner.

I love me a thick big ass slice of steak.

With a nice thick fat cap. I left the steak like that in the fridge for a few hours to dry out a bit.

Cooked in the air fryer at 200C for 8 minutes. I flipped the steak at half time.

Then I rested the steak while I cooked the baby French beans.

Into the air fryer at 180C for 12 minutes.

Then it was time to assemble.

Steak, baby French beans and kimchi.

That was a very robust and fulfilling dinner. Completed at 2:00 pm. Or you could say that I had breakfast and lunch but I prefer to think of my meals as early lunch and early dinner.

The steak was very tender and juicy. Never mind that it did not have a sear that I would have achieved had it been cooked in a cast iron pan.

The air fryer is a lot more convenient to use.

I wished I could eat like this everyday.

  1. I love how you spent your Saturday Hari Raya. That was what my married youngest sister did during her Sunday weekend, she does not need to work on Sunday too. Houseworks which she treated as exercise. And self satisfaction after seeing her house spick and span. She used to have a helper but not anymore as my nephew has grown up to be a happy, loving, healthy, confident and obedient boy.

    1. Ah! I remember you posted about your cute nephew long ago. I am glad to know that he has grown to be a very good boy and that your sister can relax on Sundays. I hope that you had a good weekend too!

  2. Your home cooked food reminds me that I can steam veggies such as broccoli πŸ₯¦ and asparagus with garlic pieces to eat πŸ˜‹ as I do not have an air fryer.

    1. Steaming is also a good way to cook veggies.

  3. I love to eat salmon fish and kimchi too. I can get to eat salmon fish and kimchi with rice conveniently outside, at places such as the Food court at Changi Airport Terminal 3.

If you eat like this everyday, I wonder will you ever need a break from the thick steak πŸ₯© πŸ˜‚
