To be honest, I was not drawn to this dish on the Chinese New Year menu. But on an earlier visit, Mr Yap, the manager was waxing lyrical about the Prawn Toast. He said he loved it. So that piqued my interest.
It does look very good. Golden and crispy, coated with sesame seeds. It was accompanied by a sprig of coriander (which I love) and a dipping sauce (something like Thai dipping sauce).
This Prawn Toast is made with prawn wrapped in prawn paste rolled in seaweed and then coated with breadcrumbs and sesame seeds. It is then deep fried until golden brown and crispy. Quite nice but not something I would go crazy about.
It was delightful! But because it is sweet (even though barely so) I don't want to have this too frequently.
Now let my cats entertain you (the cat fans).

Dear friend, you have outdone yourself with all these gorgeous and absolutely delightful π ☺️ cat pictures. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of prawn toast.
I am glad you love the cate pictures, Linda!
DeleteGood morning ππ my dear friend PH, the quote at the end is very encouraging, I try my best to remember this quote. By the way, I cannot find the little box on top of your blog header where I can key in keywords such as lotus to search for posts related to it, are you able to help me?
ReplyDeleteGood morning my dear friend! That little search box you can only see if you use desktop. It is on the top left hand corner.
DeleteOk thanks
DeleteThe prawn toasts remind me of dim sum hee hee. I think I will like these fried prawns. Lovely photos of your furkids and description of their daily life. I enjoy looking at them. Blue eyes looks like Persian cat. ππΊ
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it is also served in bamboo basket like dim sum. Blue eyes is a Siamese cat. She is very friendly and does not give trouble.
DeleteHigh five! I love coriander too! Though some may say it is pungent herb πΏ.
ReplyDeleteMy late dad used to say coriander smells like cockroach. LOL!
DeleteSmells like πͺ³ cockroach lol. I used to think almond smelled like cockroach too!
DeleteI don't like Persian cats, I prefer "normal" cats lol.
ReplyDeleteOh, hah..hah...
DeleteI think Blue Eyes is a Sealpoint Siamese cat.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I think I got the term "Persian" mixed up with "Siamese", you should be correct.
DeleteDoes the prawn toast feel oily in the mouth?
ReplyDeleteNo, not oily at all.
DeleteI'm amazed at how Girl & Kittie Kat get along so well (even though they were strangers at first)...and can't understand why Belle2 could not. I think I'd enjoy a good prawn toast...crispy bread, fragrant sesame, what's not to like...hehe! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhen Belle2 first came along, she initiated friendship with Girl which I though was so sweet. But Girl ignored her at first but warmed up to her subsequently. With Kittie Kat however, Belle2 was aggressive towards her which resulted in Kittie Kat retaliating when she birthed her kittens. I was actually shocked by the way Kittie Kat reacted towards Belle2 and how Belle2 was fearful of her! How the tables turned. Haiz. I still feel sad when I think of Belle2.
DeleteThis prawn toast I think you will like. Sadly it is not on the menu anymore.
