Emergency Vet Visit

Haiz! This morning Girl buat hal.

This morning when I fed the girls, Girl was nowhere to be seen. So I called out to her and walked towards the gate to see if she was somewhere nearby.

Then I spotted her at the corner of daddy's car. But she sneaked under the car when I approached. She refused to budge and would not respond to me. She appeared to be withdrawn and I suspected something must be wrong.

A little later, she slowly walked out from under the car and that's when I noticed she had something on the left side of her abdomen. Her fur was matted and it smelled very bad.

Oh dear! My first thought was that it was a badly infected wound. I carried her into the house and attempted to put her into the carrier but she struggled. I had to get my partner to help me and we managed to get her inside.

Long story short, we were at the vet's.

I went to the loo and snapped this amusing message.

I was very worried about Girl

See that? It looked like a deep gash though I don't seem to see anything resembling blood or dried blood.

It was very stinky. My partner thought it might be errr... poop but it did not smell like poop.

The vet examined her and she said based on the smell it might be an infected wound. She said that if there is maggot infestation (I did not see any) the treatment may be more intensive.

She shaved the area and lo and behold, the skin was intact and there was no wound! I was so relieved that Girl was not hurt. The vet said that Girl might have picked up that mess from another cat. So weird.

So I requested for Girl to be bathed and left her there while I went to the office.

Lunch was at Red Kettle.

Flat White.

Pork Ribs.

I tasted the ribs when I had this dish before the Chinese New Year.

The mantou was my favorite on the plate.

The ribs were also good and I loved the sauce. Underneath the ribs were pink pomelo, black fungus, micro greens and cucumbers.

The chili dip was nice but it was not necessary.

I went for a walk and then went back to the office to clear up some work.

I will be going to pick Girl up before I go home. I hope all will be well and that she stays out of trouble.

Poor Girl. As soon as you said that her wound had a foul odour I knew right away it must be an infection.
    Bless her heart.
You did the right thing bringing her to the vet, dear PH.

    1. As it turned out, it wasn't a wound but something foul that she somehow got on her fur! I was so happy that she was not hurt.

    1. There was nothing bad, don't worry. It was just something smelly on her fur.

  5. Aiks, how come the vet need to shave to see the wound...it should be visible by sight/touch. Wonder what it was (luckily it wasn't a wound...phew)...and if it was just dirt, that's extra cost for an unscheduled grooming session...lol.

My Poppy also had an unscheduled bathing session last week. She dashed out of the house when I opened the door hastily to receive a delivery...and she was out there for close to 45 min before I could catch her back (luckily with the help of one of my neighbours). She ran under cars and got her pristine white fur all black and grey (especially around the head coz she was rubbing her head all over the bottom of the cars and rolling all over the floors to leave her scent I presume). Not only that, she got into a fight with another female (well it seems female cats do fight one another too female cats are highly territorial as well especially if they're not spayed). Luckily I managed to chase away the female cat and Poppy was not injured, so she had to get a bath to get her fur all white again...lol! ;D

    1. Oh dear, Poppy is cheeky! Girl also gets oily black/gray spots usually on her forehead. Well, the vet said she had to get the fur off to be able to see better and it was a good thing too since it revealed skin that was intact. What a scare Girl gave me and yes, I spent a lot of money that day >.<
