This shoplot was previously occupied by Kean Seng Kopitiam which vacated back in August 2024.
When Fun Fun Mix Rice first opened for business, there were long queues come peak lunch hour.
It is self service. You scoop your rice and then move along the counter to choose your dishes.
There is the usual meat and veggie dishes that you would find at any chap fan (mix rice) stall.
The choices are not bad.
You get a few varieties of greens.
And many other types of vegetables.
As for proteins, besides meat and fish there are eggs (omelette and fried eggs) and there are also fried noodles and fried rice.
Prices here are a bit higher than chap fan stalls located at the kopitiam (coffee shops).
The environment is clean and comfortable.
It is also air-conditioned so I think it is fair to pay slightly higher prices.
I was there to tapau (takeaway) food and took the opportunity to berkepoh-kepoh (be a busybody).
After that I went to The Starling to check if the Christmas decorations are up.
The decorations are still in progress.
I think it should be completed before the weekend.
I'll take photos again once the decorations are completed.
Good morning! ๐ in SG we seldom have such concept, having chap fan in one whole restaurant setting, we usually have them in coffeeshop. Wonder is it because rental price is steep that such chap fan business cannot survive. From the look of it, the Christmas decorations at Starling are going to look great! I heard the news that in some countries their Christmas decorations are already up by the month of August ๐
ReplyDeleteDear friend, I absolutely love all your photos! In your first couple of photos, beneath the foods, I love the exposed brick! It gives is a warm and friendly look! Here in Montreal, you don't see self serve buffets much anymore, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic. Many restaurants stopped it for health reasons.
ReplyDeleteThe food displays look very nice! The marble look tables are clean and attractive. The recess lighting is bright but not overly so. That place has a huge selection of choices!
