I have been warned but, hey. I have been looking for a good Hainanese Chicken Chop for the longest time.
After placing my order for the Hainanese Chicken Chop Rice and Asam Boi Sparkling, I looked at some stuff on the table.
Why didn't I order coffee? Regret. This asam boi (sour plum) drink was not working for me. Mint + asam boi = strange taste. That's all I can say.
A piece of chicken chop and the frilly edge fused to the chicken is omelette. To be fair, the portion of chicken is generous but there was too little sauce. Besides the chicken chop, there was rice, a piece of papadum and some salad greens.
Well, the search for a good Hainanese Chicken Chop continues. The last one I had was back in 2019 which was just OK (and ironically better than Duo Kopi's).
My gold standard was the one I had at the Royal Selangor Club when I was in secondary school. My aunt and (late) uncle were members of the club and often invited my family there for dinner.
Ah well! At least I tried.
Good morning! I had tried Hainanese chicken chop rice in tomato sauce at Han's SG before and I was disappointed. Not easy to find good one.
ReplyDeleteI love the quote/prayer! Chicken chop rice sounds pretty good, dear friend. The dry coffee tart reminds me of a slice of pecan pie. Hope you are doing well. :)
